Jo, Tootie, and Nat just threw together whatever the %$#! was in Edna's kitchen to make that Chinese food, and it was strictly barf-o-rama . Vinegar and Ovaltine for a sweet and sour sauce? puke: That was the worst thing to come out of Edna's kitchen! Terrifying combination. WTF were they thinking? Why were they following celebrity cook book in the first place? Did they seriously think that was a good idea and that they'd get away with those recipes? They should have never followed that celebrity cook-up book nonsense, and Mrs. G should have asked Blair what she wanted upfront, and never assumed, and the Jo, Toot, and Nat should have been transparent to Blair and Mrs. G about making that Chinese food. They meant well, but it didn't turn out well. But then again, they were learning The Facts of Life ;). Poor Mrs. G's business was off to a rough start when the girls used her name to make that horrible food. The Gamma girls went with it at first only because the 'Facts' ladies managed to convince them, albeit lying, that they catered people associated with Calvin Klein, but then Boots called their bluff in the following scene. Very funny episode! Very funny episode! Yeah, even the pretentious Boots wasn't falling for that! My favorite scene in that episode is the scene where they decide to stick the more questionable entrees on the back part of the table... so they end up pushing everything to the back of the table!:lol::lol::lol: But we haven't dug very deep, just yet... there are many more questionable, regrettable edibles we haven't disgust yet. (Get it? 'Disgust'?) RetroGuy2000 10-04-2020, 09:21 PM I give you Exhibit Z: Lid Pizza from "A Slice of Life". Unlike the vinegar and ovaltine monstrosity in "Gamma Gamma", this pizza wasn't even edible, after being severely damaged. At least the "Chinese food" looked edible! Lorimar Television 10-05-2020, 01:35 AM Haha good point, but did they serve that mess? opus 10-05-2020, 01:55 AM I give you Exhibit Z: Lid Pizza from "A Slice of Life". Call me crazy, but that actually looks pretty good. Like a giant slice :eat: RetroGuy2000 10-05-2020, 07:22 AM Shrug. Call me crazy, but that actually looks pretty good. Like a giant slice :eat: The dough is clearly not fully cooked, since it stretches down the sides of the lid. A fully-cooked pizza should have a crust that isn't still dough. Not without more baking, sir! You will give yourself a stomach ache. :nonono: RetroGuy2000 10-05-2020, 07:54 AM Haha good point, but did they serve that mess? Let us hope not, especially with Natalie's fingers gripping it like that, and Tootie grinding part of her fingernail into the cheese. I should also mention the pizza Jo used as a sponge, the low-quality pizzas with freezer burn, and of course the pizzas that didn't make it, which Natalie says were "put out of their misery": opus 10-05-2020, 01:49 PM The dough is clearly not fully cooked, since it stretches down the sides of the lid. Although I am pretty hungry at the moment  Impressions 10-05-2020, 02:38 PM I was going to point out the “Jo’s Pizza” episode and the nightmare pizzas they made later in that episode. However, since it was Jo’s pizza business, and not the Edna’s Edibles business, although they used their ingredients and their kitchen to make them, I’m not sure if those pizzas counted as a regrettable edible. Although I am pretty hungry at the moment  I can see why being hungry might sway your good judgement, but I should reiterate: nothing in this thread should be eaten. This "food" is full of grated fingernails, ancient fortune cookies, raw dough, powdered cocoa soaked in vinegar, and an unidentified processed cheese food by-product. RetroGuy2000 10-05-2020, 03:24 PM I was going to point out the “Jo’s Pizza” episode and the nightmare pizzas they made later in that episode. I totally see your point, Impressions, and it's a valid one. However, for me personally, Cooked in the Edna's Edibles Kitchen counts as a Regrettable Edible. They didn't even have a separate phone line, using Edna's phone to take the orders for what you rightly call the "nightmare pizzas". Edna should have put her foot down, as she did in "Gamma Gamma"; it was good, though, that she at least convinced Jo to stop using sub-par ingredients (at least for the sake of Edna's Edibles' reputation). RetroGuy2000 10-05-2020, 03:27 PM Haha good point, but did they serve that mess? However, that mystery meat was made by "Cook", at the Eastland Tiny Cafeteria, long before Edna's Edibles even existed. Can we even count that mystery meat as a "Regrettable Edible"? RetroGuy2000 10-26-2020, 06:24 PM  As long is its not more than an hour or so or it might spoil. I didn't really watch the show much after the 4th season, because unlike Blair and Jo, I lived a normal campus life and didn't really watch that much TV except for sports, the Cosby Show, Family Ties, and Cheers. I was a bit younger, being in junior high during FOL's final season, and watched regularly from circa 1982 until the end. (Of course, I also watched The Cosby Show, Family Ties, and Cheers, too. I saw all of their final episodes.) |
