Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, I was part of The Closing Logo Group and before the days of YouTube and such we had this thing called The Closing Logo Group mega mix which was a VHS tape compilation of all our favorite logos. Some of those logos cane from The Metro Network which was like an early version of the digital subchannel. Do.you guys remember that and is there anything from YouTube on that network?

Yes, I remember they aired Welcome Back Kotter. I think it was a NY thing. Press release:

Gabe Kotter, Vinny Barbarino, Molly Dudd & Other Unlikely NY Characters Come to MetroChannels Hot New Schedule, July 24
Molly Dodd, New York News and NY Daze Join Metro’s TVNY Strand
New York, NY, July 19, 2000 – MetroChannels, the suite of channels dedicated to the experience of living in the NY metro area, will add four more classic New York-based television series to its programming roster – Welcome Back, Kotter, The Days & Nights of Molly Dodd, New York News and NY Daze.

These shows will be featured on TVNY, the popular primetime programming block airing nightly on Metro (Time Warner – Channel 70, Cablevision – Channel 16). These ever popular series will join a line-up which already boasts Central Park West, Brooklyn Bridge, The Bronx Zoo, The Associates, Car 54, Where Are You? and Serpico.

Metro will add these new New York-centric classics with the unveiling of its new schedule, during the week of July 24. TVNY‘s new lineup will include:

Welcome Back, Kotter – Premieres July 24 @ 7 PM
Metro is welcoming back the hilarious 70’s comedy about a young, idealistic and very funny Brooklyn teacher and his impossible class of lovable under-achievers, “The Sweathogs.” Comedian Gabe Kaplan portrays Gabe Kotter, a man who lands back in high school, who uses unorthodox methods to educate his exasperating students that include Ron Pallilo (the honk-voiced Horshack), Lawrence Hilton Jacobs (the smooth Washington), Robert Heyges (the Groucho-obsessed Epstein) and John Travolta (the sexy, but slightly dim, Vinny Barbarino). Welcome Back, Kotter will air Mondays – Fridays @ 7 PM (repeat 11 PM).

The Days & Nights Of Molly Dodd – Premieres July 24 @ 8 PM
