OMG, what rock did this woman crawl out of? Didn't even know George had relatives who lived down south either..I love when "relatives" just come outta nowhere, never mentioned previously..

I swear I wanted to reach thru the tv and punch the living goat snot out of this woman! I was FLOORED when she drank out the OJ bottle and more incensed when she put on Dorothy's clothes like she was entitled to do so..

And then goaded George to pay her way so she wouldn't wind up on welfare?? I almost turned the channel, until I realized there'd be no story at all without all this nonsense....

Gotta say the lady who played that part (God, WHAT is her name again?) did it quite well...

That hot little Mama is Diane Ladd, she do look good in those skin tight pants:D. Her face? Ehh. A real Butterface at the Baxters.

But she is in reality Laura Dern's Mom and was Bruce Dern's former wife. She even played Laura Dern's Mom in the movie "Wild At Heart".

But her role in this episode of Hazel was sickening. But this only shows what a good actress she is, you actually hated her. But her outrages against George I don't think are any worse than Hazel's own outrageous actions against Mr. B. I would have fired Haze the second day in her employment. Just as Mr. B should have kicked this cousin moocher out of his house the day she arrived.

So think of how peaceful the Baxter household would have been without buttinski and rule ignoring Hazel and without that blackmailing moocher.

I caught this episode the other day. It really does show how things were different back in the day. The Baxter's (and Hazel) were so kind to her even though she was a free-loader. If someone like that showed up today, most people would quickly figure out a way to get rid of them immediately.

What's interesting in this episode is that when the family is watching TV and Charlene was doing her nails, Harold mentions the program they are watching is on TelStar - which was new satellite technology in those days.

now, I remember her! She played Belle on Alice after Flo left...I had to go back and remember that Shirley Booth was in charge of this show, and again - there'd be no story really, without such over the top antics...

And that was when my BP finally receded...

When I saw the episode for the first time a few years ago I was like "Oh God it's that awful Diane Ladd! I can't get away from her!".
