Murphy Brown was a favourite of mine when I was a kid. I grew up watching it as part of a block of syndicated sitcoms back in the 90’s, though it left syndication before I got to watch the last two seasons. For some reason I always remembered that vision of Murphy Brown coming in from the snow, whipping off the loose flakes as she flung her scarf off of her parka.

Rewatching this series was a lot of fun, and I hope some of that came across in this video. So many things ended up being cut from this video I could have easily added an extra 30 minutes to it. Maybe I’ll make it into a second video if this one does well enough/if enough people bother me about it.

One comment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX8tRcNQCfE&lc=UgyrC7ZY6EA5m83J4614AaABAg) that really stood out for me was the observation that Murphy Brown (https://www.murphybrownpod.com/) was a show (https://archive.gosanangelo.com/entertainment/legacy-of-murphy-brown-ep-305757980-355201561.html/) that was very better or worse, caught between two eras. Whether it be the Reagan (https://slate.com/culture/2018/01/cbs-is-reviving-murphy-brown.html)/Bush 41 (https://www.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/take-5-tv-moments-from-the-first-bush-era-1.3768405) vs. Clinton (https://www.postbulletin.com/reelin-in-the-years-murphy-brown-returns/article_2a6d2532-c0c0-11e8-9aca-6fe14d26889a.html) eras (https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-lists/president-tv-series-defined-era-994869/), Baby Boomer vs. Gen X, or even Gen X vs. Millennials (https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/murphy-brown-reboot-unapologetically-anti-trump-anti-roseanne-bid-baby-ncna914521). The main point is that Murphy Brown unlike other long running or popular sitcoms didn't have the luxury of being gently judged by a specific generation and beloved for what it was at the time. And because it was was a show that was stuck between a lot of eras, it was naturally judged harshly by all even while other shows are handled gently by the kid gloves of nostalgia (https://www.vulture.com/2012/05/how-does-murphy-brown-hold-up.html).
