Also, who could also forgot her gaffe at The TV Land Awards in 2011, when she said "I'm so proud of my girls, they all turned out to be straight," which was kinda awkward, because I don't think she caught the double meaning (until after it was explained to her), and Geri Jewell, who is a lesbian, was standing nearby, just laughing it off.

It could be that Charlotte confused Joan Collins for Joan Rivers.

Charlotte had several lapses in memory or judgement in her later years. The Joan Collins comments, the "straight comments", the telling a total stranger that she bought Mindy a book on being the master of her domain when Mindy was younger.

Yes, I knew what she meant, but because of the context of the sentence, it sounded like she was proud to say that they all turned out to be heterosexual women. She meant to say that they all grew up all as sensible, well-rounded, up-standing, responsible (whatever synonym for that is) women. The word choice was just off. If it were the 1950s, it may have meant what she meant it to say, but since it was the 2000s, the connotation is completely different.

Yes, I totally agree. It would be so easy to keep a feud like that going, but Charlotte apologized. What a sense of humor! :lol:
