It's not right that the girls get little to no residuals from the revenue that the Facts of Life generates to this day. This according to Kim and Mindy in yesterday's Mondays with Mindy episode. I wonder what adult actors from this time period got?
I am pretty sure Molly Ringwald gets some residuals every year from her 3 John Hughes movies that allows her to live the lifestyle that she posts on her Instagram account.

I don't think the problem was that they were children; the problem seems to have been that the residuals for the reruns ran out after five reruns, and apparently no-one negotiated for a piece of the back end.
The guy who played Seymore Slavick in a single episode of FOL got a residual check for FOL DVD sales in 2008, but it was for 67 cents (https://www.backstage.com/magazine/article/calculating-sag-residuals-17706/).

I don't doubt she is still making some money from the Hughes Trilogy.

Very few actors got a piece of the back end (syndication profits) back then. You had to own the production company that was producing your show (a la Donna Reed), or be a big star on a blockbuster show (Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams) with a shrewd agent. It’s a shame. I think of all the money that The Brady Bunch and Three’s Company generated in syndication, and the actors didn’t get a piece of that; they only got their original salary and residuals.
