He died from an autoimmune disease and not a heart attack according to The Hollywood Reporter:

It’s fine. Some articles are either saying heart attack or the cause of death not being disclosed, but Hollywood Reporter is saying autoimmune disease.

Dobson, who died Sunday of medical complications, was best known for playing Detective Bobby Crocker on Kojak, the sidekick to Telly Savalas' title character. He also played Mack MacKenzie on CBS’ Knots Landing. He also starred on Days of Our Lives and appeared on numerous TV shows.
