What are some of your favorite original and recast actors (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/TheOtherDarrin/LiveActionTV) on TV shows and why? And some of the ones you hated (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031121330/http://www.jumptheshark.com/samediff.htm)?

A couple that I liked:

Jerry Stiller as Frank Constanza on Seinfeld
Karen Witter as Tina Lord Roberts on One Life to Live

One I didn't like:

Jill Larson as Opal on All My Children; Dorothy Lyman (later of Mama's Family) was great as the originator, and Larson was hilarious as the crazed lover of a psychopath on One Life to Live, so it should've been a good fit; however, she ended up a boring, Stepford-style devoted housewife on AMC

Best recast: Pat Priest (The Munsters)
Worst recast: Eartha Kitt (Batman ‘66) because Julie Newmar was the better Catwoman portrayer than Kitt

I never understood why the Batman producers didn’t turn to Lee Meriwether to play Catwoman, as she had in the 1966 movie. She did guest star on Batman, but playing a different character.

I also liked Karen Witter a lot. She had a difficult act to follow, but I wound up liking her better than Andrea Evans.
