If there was one cast member who you could only ask one question, what would it be?

Let's keep this to 1 cast member and 1 question.

Mine would be to Lisa. Q: How did you feel when you first learned 3 of your closest friends would not be returning for the second season?

Oh man. You go straight to the tough questions!

I always wondered how Lisa felt when she found out the great cast purge included her 3 close friends from Season 1. They were the girls closest to her age including two born the same year as her. I am not sure if the powers that be casted Nancy M. as Jo yet. But at that time Lisa would probably not know her that well, if she did at all.

We know Mindy was upset when she found out Felice was a casualty.

The only girl who had the best chance at knowing Nancy M. at that time was Felice since she was in an episode of Alice during the first season of FOL.

Yeah, we know Mindy and Felice were close, "like family", according to Mindy.

I guess the question I'd ask is for Molly:

The cast was obviously very close; who were you closest with on the set and would you consider making an appearance if the show had a reunion?

80s Dude

Yeah, we know Mindy and Felice were close, "like family", according to Mindy.

They had the same agent. Felice's mom. Mindy also said that Felice was her soul sister. While Kim was Mindy's best friend. Felice was probably like her big sister on the set.

Julie Pie seemed to have a similar role to Kim.

This would be how I would answer diplomatically if I was Lisa. "Yes, it really hurt me when my friends were let go. Then I got to meet and know Nancy McKeon who became a life long friend. Then when Felice, Julie, and Julie Anne came back to do a few episodes the next 2 seasons, it felt like a reunion with old friends. Today all of us remain friends".

Yep: Mindy and Felice were "soul sisters"!

Kim and Julie Pie were indeed like sisters: Kim says it in her book, Julie Pie said it, everyone agrees. 40 years later, Julie Pie's daughter Jacqueline was babysitting Kim's kids Sebastian and Quincy. That's an incredibly close friendship.

Question for Lisa: What did you think of the show and how it addressed lesbian relationships, especially the implications with the Cindy character, and how pop culture treated the Jo and Blair dynamic as a lesbian relationship?

Ok, so since my last question was already answered, I'd like to ask Nancy McKeon this:

Do you regret not doing the Reunion Movie and why?

It's still unclear to me why she wasn't in that movie. Did she feel like she "moved on" and didn't want to be typcasted? Did she ever address this?

If i had the chance and if she were still alive, my question to the amazing CHARLOTTE RAE would be the following: i'd like to know which kids did she have the best chemistry with (on and off set) the ones from 'Different strokes or the ones from 'Facts of life?

I have watched a few interviews with her, but it was never clear to me...

That reminds me of a second question. Do you think if Charlotte Rae had stayed on Diff'rent Strokes, the kids of DS would still get into the trouble that they did on set and after the show ended?

Nancy M. at that time was in a show called "The Division". I am sure she wanted to live in the present and not the past. She was really distancing herself from the Facts of Life at that point.

Just my opinion, but in 2001, I think Nancy still had a chip on her shoulder about not getting the Monica role on FRIENDS, and she didn’t want the association with Facts.

I thought NANCY didn't want the role of MONICA in Friends? (or was it just LISA, the one who didn't want the role as RACHEL?)

:stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid:

Nancy McKeon was the second choice for Monica. She definitely wanted it. Lisa Welchel read a script and decided not to audition because the show was to racy by her standards. I’d love to see that version of FRIENDS. I think Nancy McKeon could have given the show a little more oomph.

I can't imagine any of the Friends replaced by someone else, even with someone as terrific as Nancy McKeon. That show's actors had a chemistry with one another that was like lightning in a bottle. You couldn't replicate it by replacing any character.

Thank you so much for speaking my thoughts aloud Retro!

I was also going to say, that i couldn't imagine FRIENDS without Courteney Cox! (she was my favourite after Lisa Kudrow).
The fact that Cox also plays in SCREAM makes her a super star for me too!!!!

Lisa Kudrow was so underrated on Friends. Just having her in a scene made any part of the show more funny. My favorite Friends moment ever was the episode where Phoebe meets Mike's parents for the first time, and Phoebe puts on a posh Mid-Atlantic accent.:lol::lol::lol:

Courteney was so, sooo good in the Scream franchise.

Courteney was fantastic on SCREAM: i remember the first time i watched it at the cinema (part 1 from 1996) i saw her and i say, "That's the one from FRIENDS!":rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

And my favourite part on one of the FRIENDS episodes, is when Lisa Kudrow starts to sing her famous 'smelly cat'song! (she instantly became a classic!):rofl::rofl:

Did Nancy turn down Friends or did Friends turn down Nancy? I'd love to hear her thoughts now on the show and her involvement with it more. I wonder if she feels remorse for not being Monica in that show, given all of its success.

My understanding is that Kauffman/Crane/Bright selected Courteney over Nancy, but it was very close. According to Hollywood.com (https://www.hollywood.com/tv/actors-you-didnt-know-almost-starred-in-friends-60423353/#/ms-22519/1), "A former head of casting at NBC said that The Facts of Life star also read for the part of Monica. “She gave a terrific performance," she explained, and all were torn, so "they went off for a walk and came back and said Courteney.”

I think she loved both castmates equally. As Retro said, she was on Facts for seven years, the girls have grown up in front of her and she stayed in touch with them until her death. About her DS co-stars, she was with them a year and a half and, during her period on that show, there weren't those problems that happened later. Todd broke up in tears (as Kim said) when he learned about Charlotte's passing, so I think they were very close.

I'd ask Kim Fields what she thinks kept the 'FOL' minor performers from going off the rails- unlike the 'Diffrent Stokes' minor performers. I mean, Miss Fields had the pressure of being her family's main support from an early age yet she and the other FOL cast did NOT wind up becoming trainwrecks (with only Todd Bridges surviving).
