View Full Version : Why Did Mike Address Archie as 'Archie' ?
PracTz 08-27-2020, 12:15 PM I mean, Mike DID call Edith 'Ma' which Gloria also did but I can't recall any time in which Archie told him 'Now that youse two are married, you can call me 'Archie' instead of 'Mr. Bunker.'
I imagine that neither Mike nor Archie could have stomached it had Mike called Archie 'Daddy' like Gloria did but it can't have helped how the two got along if Mike had just spontaneously addressed the older man as 'Archie' without any kind of OK by his father-in-law.
Heenan Fan 08-28-2020, 02:55 AM Actually, he usually called him 'Arch'.
GrtGzu 09-08-2020, 09:02 AM Just saw it on Decades this a.m, when Archie got Mike drunk off wine so he could get him to admit that he was having an affair with the tutor-girl...
Mike called him "Dad" after they got crocked and when he put Archie to bed on the couch, he called him "Dad" again...

ThatWriterChick1976 02-02-2021, 08:49 PM I guess it's normal. I call my father in law by his first name and call my mother in law by "Mom".

Yong Fang 06-16-2022, 08:37 AM In one episode, Mike tried to call Archie “dad” and it just didn’t work and both were uncomfortable to that. Edith was so motherly it just came natural.
