In 1995 the former Today weatherman Willard Scott promoted Days Inn in a commercial that seems to be the only commercial he did for the motel chain. In it Willard talks about how much he loves staying at Days Inns during trips. Willard Scott is not only a cool weatherman but is a commercial veteran who appeared in the first McDonald's commercials as the first Ronald McDonald so Days Inn really knew what they were doing when they chose him to star in the commercial

Hi, Bestie! I never saw those commercials, but I am old enough to remember him as the first Ronald McDonald. I always thought he was kind of a scary Ronald. What do you think?

How Willard Scott got to be Days Inn's spokesman is surprising to me because not only was he funny but really witty as well and that probably helped Days Inn become popular with travelers. But if you look at Days Inn's today you'll notice that they have gone downhill and don't have many commercials today. I wonder now that Willard Scott is gone they should release a DVD of all his commercials soon
