Molly appears on the Merv Griffin Show in 1984. The first word I think of after seeing this is "awkward".

They didn't call her a member of the Brat Pack for nothing! valentina warner 08-11-2020, 04:52 PM They didn't call her a member of the Brat Pack for nothing! Were the Brat Pack stuck up too? :stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid::stupid: RetroGuy2000 08-11-2020, 08:08 PM Well... they were known for being brats. 80s Dude 08-12-2020, 07:18 AM I just watched it, and although MOLLY has turned very pretty and feminine (unlike during the FOL years where she was more like a tomboy) she seems kind of stuck up. Let's look at it from her perspective. Molly got fired from a show she loved (if she didn't like it, then why did she take it so hard) 4 years earlier and felt humiliated when she was brought back as a part time role. She was told by someone on the Facts of Life that she had no future in acting and to look at other things for her future. In those 4 years afterward, she was in several movies, got a Golden Globe nomination while her former castmates were either stuck in an aging comedy or just disappeared all together. John Hughes have her tremendous power in casting decisions for his movies. Things like that would inflate the ego of any 16 year old. In today's world, they could have had Molly be the genderfluid or genderqueer character at a girls school. Cindy/Julie Anne was the tomboy. Molly just looked very boyish until she was 15 or 16. Her mother looked boyish in her high school graduation picture. RetroGuy2000 08-12-2020, 03:55 PM I don't think Molly looked boyish, but that bowl cut wasn't flattering. valentina warner 08-12-2020, 05:22 PM Let's look at it from her perspective. I see your point of view: it must have been really heartbreaking for MOLLY to get fired and to drift away from the 6 FOL girls, after forming a bond with them during the sitcom year 79/80. I know that if i were a 12 year old kid like her then, i'd be devastated! Those girls became a tight family, and to have them split like that seemed a bit violent to me, but i guess the writers didn't care...... I guess 'tomboy' is the wrong word i used for MOLLY: what did cfr1970 called her again??? I forgot!!!!! What i meant was, that with the bob she looked plain, and it wouldn't be until she started in the John Hughes movies that she transformed into a beautiful teenager!!!! With LISA WHELCHEL is a bit pretty much the same: during the Mickey mouse show she wasn't remotely attractive, but once she started on the pilot from FOL she was gorgeous!!!! And yes, whoever the person was who said that MOLLY was a bad actress is an idiot: she became a hit in Hollywood!!!!!:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers: 80s Dude 08-12-2020, 06:41 PM I see your point of view: it must have been really heartbreaking for MOLLY to get fired and to drift away from the 6 FOL girls, after forming a bond with them during the sitcom year 79/80. The bowl cut and overalls combined made her look kinda boyish (also why I always think of Molly when I see Casey, that boy puppet from Canada's old kids' show "Mr. Dressup"). Someone here (it may have been TV Guy? Or 80s Dude?) said in the photo thread of the Reelz documentary that they didn't mean to sound mean, but they assumed in one group off-screen photo that Molly was John Lawlor's son. Lorimar Television 08-22-2020, 09:18 PM Yep if any of the girls looked like a boy it was molly 80s Dude 08-23-2020, 07:11 AM Yep if any of the girls looked like a boy it was molly When I saw that one photo in the Reelz documentary with the girls around John Lawlor and Molly in the NBC shirt giving LIsa the rabbit ears, at first I thought that was John Lawlor's son. What year was it? You could have bumped into Molly at her favorite little cheese and wine shop! I'd love to hear more about your time in Paris. Was it at all like FOL Goes to Paris? Did you drive your motorcycle through the French countryside? Did you help some drunk author find his muse again? valentina warner 09-06-2020, 05:51 PM Really? What year was it? (way a lot younger than the FOL kids lol!) I did enjoy my childhood at kindergarten and primary school though.... :baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby::baby: RetroGuy2000 09-06-2020, 06:04 PM There is no way i could have driven a motorcycle or helped any drunk author: i was barely 4 years old when i arrived, and by the time i left i just turned 8 ha ha! On one visit, I got to see Calais, but not Paris. On the second trip, I only got to see the British Isles, so didn't get to France at all. I'd love to someday visit Paris. valentina warner 09-06-2020, 06:17 PM Thanks for sharing this tid-bit! I have been to Europe twice. On one visit, I got to see Calais, but not Paris. The Paris movie from FOL will always be my favourite: it still had MRS G with her '4 musketeers' on it!!!! :eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes: |
