consentida 07-01-2002, 04:41 PM -THE CHEREST SHOW ON EARTH-
I went to the Cher concert last night at Nassau Coliseum. It was great. I was kinda late, but I hadnt missed any of Cher. Cyndi Lauper was still Performing. I went to the bathroom because I really had to go. My mother and I waited on the bathroom line for a few minutes. It was the men's bathroom, but it was being used as a women's bathroom. After my little trip to the bathroom, I bought some stuff: two Cher shirts. a black one and a beige one; a poster (its kinda ugly but whatever); and the tourbook. I think the tourbook is my favorite thing, but anyway, I spent $115 on that stuff. Then my mother and I went to look for our seats. OH MY GOD! We had the PERFECT seats. We werent too far and we werent too close. I could see EVERYTHING! So as we got seated, Cyndi Lauper began to sing 'Time After Time'. She sang an acoustic version of the song. After 'Time After Time' Cyndi sang 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'. WHOA! She got such a wonderfully large response from the audience. It was great. Then Cyndi left the stage and everybody awaited Cher's "big entrance". Cher's 'big entrance" didnt come until about a half hour later. By this time my back and my butt were killing me from sitting in an extremely uncomfortable chair while clinging on to all of my belongings. When Cher finally came on, she descended from a huge chandelier that was about 30 ft. off the ground. She was wearing a big furry coat thing with a really cool hat. She was singing 'I Still Havent Found What I'm Looking For', which is a U2 song. After she finished singing that, she took off her coat and sang 'Song For The Lonely' and ' Different Kind Of Love Song'. Cher then went backstage and came out in a Ringmaster's outfit saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages, Welcome to the Cherest Show on Earth!" She jokingly said that she had always wanted to do that. She was messing around with her wig and she said "oh no. I have a pin stuck in my "natural" blonde hair" Everyone laughed. She then asked the audience "What did you think of my entrance?" Everyone cheered. She said "Yeah, I hafta give Britney and JLO something to look up to. Y'know I hafta pass the baton to the younger bitches!" Everyone laughed. Then she said " I mean that in a loving way. I really do" Cher then left the stage. While she was backstage, her dancers were doing all kinds of stuff to entertain the audience. Then some music started and the background singers were doing some kind of Middle Eastern chant. Then a huge puppet elephant head appeared right in the middle of the stage. Then it walked out and Cher popped up. It looked like she was sitting on top of the elephant. She was wearing a veil. Cher came down from the elephant and sang 'All Or Nothing'. Cher even danced along with her dancers. Then Cher sang "We All Sleep Alone" and "I Found Someone". In the middle of 'We All Sleep Alone' they started doing the fast remix to the song. It was great. Then Cher went backstage again. Her dancers entertained the audience with their acrobatic skills. Cher then came out singing 'Bang Bang'. She was dressed in this amazing outfit. It had a headpiece that looked like a huge Mohawk. And the outfit itself was black and orange and maroon. One side of the outfit was a black and orange pattern and the other side was maroon. After singing that song, Cher left the stage again. This time the dancers left too. There was footage in the big screen of Sonny and Cher singing some of their songs. And then there was footage of them singing 'I Got You Babe'. It was actually kind of emotional. I even wanted to cry. Well anyway, Cher came on stage when the footage was over. She was dressed in an outfit that was very loyal to the outfits she had worn when she was one half of Sonny and Cher. She wore bell bottom pants with stripes of different colors, a purple skin-tight shirt, a fur vest, and a long black wig. Cher was singing 'All I Really Want To Do'. She stated that that was her first hit in 1965. After that song, she sang a medley of three songs: 'Half Breed', 'Gypsies,Tramps, & Thieves', and 'Dark Lady'. During all of this, they had a split screen of the Cher of today and the Cher of yesterday. It was really cool. Cher then left the stage again. In between sets they showed more footage. This time they showed some footage of "The Cher Show" and a bunch of stuff that happened on "The Cher Show". Cher then came out on stage singing 'Take Me Home'. She was dressed in a red sparkly outfit. The outfit is hard to explain so I just wont explain it. Cher left the stage after singing 'Take Me Home'. The audience was entertained by some more footage. This time it was of scenes from her movies and what looked like Cher's home videos. Cher came out on stage in a lovely lavender dress and another long black wig. She sang 'After All' and 'The Way Of Love'. She left the stage once again. And I dont really remember what happened between sets. I think they showed some footage but I'm not sure. Anyway, Cher came out in a simple outfit. She wore jeans and what looked like a peasant top. It was white. Cher walked out on stage. One of the crew people put a chair out on stage for her. She thanked him and sat down. She started to explain how she felt about the next song. She said "This next song...I never did a video for this song. I never did any work for this song because I didnt like it. And it became a hit. I never performed this song in concert and people got cranky. So I decided its now or never, right?" And then she was explaining some other stuff. She was kind of rambling on and she said to herself "Oh, just sing the F***ing song Cher!" Everyone laughed. The music started and she began to sing 'Just Like Jesse James'. When she finished that song, she went into explanation of the next song. She said "This song is one of my favorite songs. Die hard Cher fans would know that. The rest of you just...just...well anyway, I made a really cool video for this song and I did all this campaigning for this song and nothing" She then began to sing 'Heart Of Stone'. Then Cher sang 'The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)'. I love that song! Anyway, after singing that, Cher left the stage again. I'm not sure what happened between sets. I think they showed clips of some of Cher's interviews. When Cher came back on stage she sang 'Strong Enough'. She was dressed in an outfit that was similar to her infamous thong outfit. She wore a wig of black curls. Then came my favorite part. She sang 'If I Could Turn Back Time'. I think I almost cried. But anyway, people from the audience were throwing sailor hats at her. I think that was the most energetic part of the show. I was in heaven! I was so happy! Then Cher left the stage and left the audience hanging for a few minutes. Everybody thought the show was over, but I knew it wasnt. Cher entered the stage on a huge platform that came down from the ceiling. She was dressed in a silver outfit and a very red wig. She sang 'Believe'. She also accepted gifts from the audience. I took 54 pictures in total. My mother and I left and met my sister outside. Outside there were these guys selling T-shirts for $15. So of I bought one. So did my mother. We had a great time. I was really happy. And last nights concert is something I will never forget.

DarleneIllyria 07-03-2002, 11:54 PM I'm sorry your roll of pics didn't come out to well. The pics you did post looked so cool. Cher has just got an out there kind of style when it comes to clothes, but they still look cool.
I know this was supposed to be Cher's last tour, but is she retiring completely from music?
Thanks for posting the pics! :)

This is Cher's last big, high profile tour. I think she said in an interview that she'll do minor performances. She just wont do big tours like this one. Cher wants to go back to acting and directing. I'm not sure if she'll ever make another album, but she's not retiring completely from show business, I mean...c'mon...she is Cher...have we ever seen Cher stop before...NO! LOL
Like she once said in an interview: "After the nuclear holocaust there will be cockroaches and Cher."

You're right on that part. I don't think she would completely leave show business altogether. I hope she still makes a few cds, but she's a great actress too. Is Cher the only exception to that rule? She can actually sing and can act good. Is she the only one that can pull off singing and still handle good acting jobs? Just look at the last few singers who have tried their hand at acting. I think Cher is just one of the exceptions.

Jordan 07-15-2002, 12:00 AM I have to agree, the Cher concert was "WOW!" It was one of the greatest nights of my entire life last night! I absolutely could not have had a better time -- the atmosphere was great. Over 15,000 people cheered Cher on at the Bradley Center! She had so many great (and sparkly!) outfits and sang flawlessly! I luved her! And her opening act Cyndi Lauper was pretty good as well. Still, no one is going to show Cher up. :happyface :happyface :happyface
