apwgk 08-08-2020, 10:21 PM With the exception of Netflix and Hulu I'm more of a print media guy, so while it's a well-known case I'd like to see Unsolved do the Brian Shaffer case.
Also, the Michael Negrete case (not related to Jared Michael Negrete) would be a good one. Feel like that's a case that could be solved if it had added exposure.
Dresdendoll45 08-09-2020, 12:06 AM Ooooh forgot to add these goodies also
Yuba County Five
The Jamison Family
The Sodder Children
Ed Gein
Stories about Cults Like Order of the Solar Temple
Shoko Asahara leader of the cult Aum Shinrikyo
And the last 24 hrs of John Lennon.
ghosthouse 08-09-2020, 06:26 PM I feel like it will get groans but I'd like to see their take on Maura Murray. That's my #1 all time "favorite" mystery case. I do think tho that half the fun of the new series are cases that have not rec'd a ton of national attention.
isotope 08-10-2020, 03:41 AM Three from Australia (UM is international now!):
Tamam Shud ("Somerton Man") case
The disappearance of the Beaumont Children (which happened about 1.5 miles from where the Somerton Man was discovered, incredibly enough - a famous Australian football coach was also murdered by his son in the midst of the football season in the suburbs around here ...some bad vibes around this area!)
Mr Cruel
Dresdendoll45 08-10-2020, 03:59 AM Oh yeah Mr Cruel nothing's going to beat Mr cruel especially that composite sketch.

If you don't mind me asking, why Ed Gein? What's the mystery surrounding him that would be UM material?
cuba_libre 08-10-2020, 04:13 PM Tamla Horsford...strange death at an adult sleepover!
Jeramy Burt...missing man who slept with his divorce attorney, whom he sent to to jail! Drama!
Jean Spangler...missing actress from the Classic era!
Annie Royale Suazo...missing woman from Vegas! Her bisexual much younger, drug addict boyfriend allegedly killed her! No body found!
Diane Suzuki...missing dance instructor! Suspect was a colleague obsessed with her!
Dolores Delmar...another Classic Hollywood case! A showgirl who mysteriously died on a rich boy's yacht!
Dresdendoll45 08-10-2020, 05:42 PM The reason I put Ed Gein for Unsolved Mysteries because is the psychological reason why he did what he did and that's what the biggest mystery is why serial killers do what they do.
Dresdendoll45 08-10-2020, 05:47 PM A new one to add The Death of Natalie Wood there's been speculations that her husband Robert Wagner might have been responsible.

The question surrounding the whys and hows of serial killers committing their acts doesn't sound like UM material to me. The subject may be fine for a different show, but it doesn't strike me as something worthy for UM. It wouldn't serve any purpose other than to provide filler for the show.

Joyce Carol Vincent is an excellent suggestion. There is an album that's inspired by her life and it's great. I've also seen the documentary. It is a haunting story and would be perfect for Unsolved Mysteries.

If it was in the 90s when the "Diabolical Minds" episode was made it would fit.
Netflix UM, probably not at all.
SheRaaa 08-13-2020, 11:53 PM Steven Koecher and/or Jason Jolkowski.
Two young men who vanished with zero evidence walking in broad daylight in suburban neighborhoods (not connected -- Koecher was in Las Vegas and Jolkowski was in Omaha)
Brian Shaffer (but you know UM would go all out on the "he never left the bar" theory instead of the more realistic "he was probably just missed by the cameras")
Jesse Ross, a young man who vanished from a Model United Nations event in Chicago in 2006
The Delphi Murders
Long Island Serial Killer
isotope 08-14-2020, 03:00 AM Steven Koecher and/or Jason Jolkowski.
As I recall from reading about it a while back, there's just nothing to go on with Jolkowski. He called a friend to get picked up, was spotted by a neighbour putting the trash out.... and then that's it. Never seen again.
No witnesses seeing or hearing anything unusual, no strangers spotted near his home where he was last seen. No alleged sightings after he was reported missing, no blood, no camera footage, no reasons discovered as to why he might wish to disappear. Zip.

I don't know if Madeline McCann or Jeffrey Epstein will ever happen because there are already docuseries on both cases on Netflix.
TrueCrimeCanuck 08-29-2020, 09:53 AM It's not necessarily "new", but I feel like the Elsie Paroubek case would make for a great episode, especially if they are doing one episode per case. There's enough to that story to make for a good episode. Only thing is, they'd have to do it via reenactments or something similar since I doubt anyone attached to the family is alive.
benoitbabe 02-19-2021, 04:11 PM I'd like to see them do the update on Little Miss Panasoffkee. Also a full segment on The Boy In The Box. Billy Smolinski.
WishfulDreamer 02-19-2021, 04:32 PM The Fort Worth Three.

Amen, apwgk, AMEN!! I've been fixated on the Shaffer case for years now, and would love to see UM give it a go. When he first went missing, I kinda bought into the theory that he may have lost himself to despair over losing his mother. When my own mother passed away unexpectedly in 2017 however, it gave me a new perspective on Shaffer's case.
My own mama was my hero and very best friend. Losing her absolutely levelled me, and haunts me still. Even in my darkest despair and deepest grief, "checking out" so to speak simply never occurred to me. Please don't misunderstand...I'm absolutely NOT judging those who may have had such struggles. I just feel I now have a better understanding of grief now that I've experienced it first hand.
BlueGalexy 02-19-2021, 05:54 PM Though it happened back in 76, I wouldn't mind seeing UM tackle the Andy Lepley case. Though there isn't a whole lot to go on, I think there's enough to base an episode around.
