Leah Remini to Host Crossword Puzzle Show "People Puzzler" for Game Show Network

Game Show Network has set "The King of Queens" star Leah Remini to host "People Puzzler", a new game show that takes inspiration from the celebrity magazine’s crossword puzzles. It will premiere in early 2021, reps told Deadline.

The half-hour episodes will see three contestants test their pop culture savvy to complete the magazine’s crossword puzzles. The first to finish the puzzle will move on to the show’s Fast Puzzle Bonus Round for the chance to win a cash prize.

Leah Remini? How in the world did GSN choose her to host a game show? She is really funny and cool and I liked her in The King Of Queens but having her host a game show for GSN is surprising. And by teaming up with People to create this show is really interesting for GSN to do. As you know the actual crossword puzzle in People is also known as a Puzzler as well so you can bet that People Puzzler is based on that. What I think that 2020 will be the year that female game show hosts will start popping up on TV and with Elizabeth Banks Leslie Jones and Brooke Burns making their marks in the game show world not since Meredith Veira and Betty White have female game show hosts become huge and if this show is a surprise hit Leah Remini will work her way up the ranks to be a huge female game show host

I saw People Puzzler's debut episode this morning and what I think they tried to do was take the popular People Magazine feature and turn it into a cross between Merv Griffin's Crosswords and Scrabble and although it seems like a smart idea for People Magazine to cross over into the game show world the finished project is weak. I also think People Puzzler stole the Daily Double from Jeopardy and put it in this game because the second round puzzles have the the option to wager money if the puzzle answers happen to have secret letters in the words. The final round The Fast Puzzle Round seems very easy to win because the puzzles in the categories are easy to figure out and if People Puzzler could've raised the winning cash prize to $50,000 rather than $10,000 it could've been better. On Leah Remini as host I found Leah to be very annoying and like Leslie Jones very loud and overdoing it at times. Why Leah Remini was chosen to host People Puzzler for GSN is beyond me and someone like comedian TJ Miller or David Spade or Tina Fey could've been a better host. Why I think GSN chose Leah Remini to host People Puzzler was because GSN thinks they will make her into a GSN superstar like Brooke Burns and since Leah Remini is a sitcom star GSN thinks that just because you take sitcom stars they can become game show hosts. But I can predict that People Puzzler will fail and get cancelled after the 4th episode is shown and we will see People Magazine try to develop other game shows and perhaps even video games and tablet apps in the near future

Hi, Bestie! I agree with you that Remini has an annoying voice. Only Fran Dreschler has a more annoying one. I have not seen this show yet, but I like the show's premise. Maybe they will get a calmer voice to host it.

Game Show Network has renewed the crossword puzzle show "People Puzzler", hosted by Leah Remini, for season two.

The new season will launch in the fall.
