View Full Version : I just got "Lost Girl"ed!
'80sSitcoms 07-28-2020, 05:53 PM It's true! I was "let go" from a job today due to the COVID times.
BUT...
It was a 2nd "side job" that was just some part-time extra hours, and I was actually planning to leave by the end of this year anyway. They just beat me to it!
The "Al Burton" of the establishment called me on my "Nancy phone" phone2: (lol) while I was at home working my main job :typing: to let me know. So not only was I let go like a Lost Girl, but I also got "the phone call" like they did too! phone:
I'm like the 5th Lost Girl!
Anyway, "Mr. Burton" said that with the furlough going on they're only going to be operating at 60% staff indefinitely, and that "we'll be separating ways" and that I'll be "leaving in good standing, so your status will be fine" (so if I ever wanted to go back in the future, I could always check back in and see :lookaroun).
But yes, I'd been doing 2 jobs for nearly 6 years now, and it was getting really, really tiresome. I'd already told myself weeks ago "I'll leave by the year's end. I'll probably put my notice in in November." But it's kinda nice to just have it done for me, in good standing, when it was what I wanted anyway. lol
So I'm definitely not "Mollying" over this. The closest I would be is "Julie Anne-ing", since it seems she took the ousting the easiest out of the 4 of them, but I'm not even really wistful about it at all. I can always drop in to "visit" if I'd l ike, but I was really, really ready to bring down the closing curtain on it.
But when it happened, of course, that was the first thing I thought of:
"I just got 'Lost Girl'ed!"
:brent
C'mere, Julie Ann, Mols, 'licey, and Julie: Lost Girl Hug!

Lorimar Television 07-28-2020, 07:09 PM Sorry to hear Eightsy! Glad it was one you were already planning to leave.
valentina warner 07-28-2020, 08:08 PM It's always good to change something if you're not happy, and if the job was not satisfactory to you, than i'd say it was a blessing you were 'let go': i'm sure glad you're comparing your situation with the 'Lost girls' lol!!!!
80s Dude 07-28-2020, 08:39 PM Sorry to hear that. Perhaps you can find something else soon.
FOL-FAN-ITA 07-29-2020, 02:57 AM Sorry to hear that Eighty. I wish you the best

Oh no! Sorry to hear this, '80s!
They didn't call you while you were in the basement, did they?
So sorry to hear you were downsized. Will they at least let you make appearances on an occasional basis? Sure, you might not get a lot of lines, but the audience will appreciate it. ;)
TV Guy 07-29-2020, 01:16 PM If you go back for just one day, make sure to wear a really glum expression on your face and complain a lot about it afterward.
WriterChick78 07-29-2020, 05:17 PM Maybe you will have a much better career in the long run a'la good 'ole Mols.

It was something Mrs. Garrett said to one of the girls, I forgot which one. I am thinking Blair or Nancy O.

I know, i was just kidding! (MRS G told BLAIR that her mother probably wore flowers in her head like her, on the episode 'Like mother, like daughter':cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer:

Nancy in Dope
valentina warner 07-30-2020, 08:07 PM Nancy in Dope
But it was BLAIR too: on the episode 'Like mother, like daughter' she was the one wearing a flower in her hair:cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc::cc

Blair’s not a lost girl and Mrs G didn’t suggest they put one in her hair. :bash: :bash: :bash:

'80sSitcoms 07-30-2020, 11:13 PM Aw, well thanks for the replies guys, but it really is okay! I had already committed to leaving by this December anyway. :) (maybe I shouldn't have used the "" emoji as a sticky with this thread title, but I just couldn't help it for the dramatic effect, lol)
They didn't call you while you were in the basement, did they?
Nope, I was in my "common room"!
So sorry to hear you were downsized. Will they at least let you make appearances on an occasional basis? Sure, you might not get a lot of lines, but the audience will appreciate it. ;)
Actually, yes, it's a public domain, so I can make a cameo appearance anytime I want! I can still be an occasional familiar face, lol.
If you go back for just one day, make sure to wear a really glum expression on your face and complain a lot about it afterward.
And then not mention it for about 35 years. ;)
Maybe you will have a much better career in the long run a'la good 'ole Mols.
Ha, maybe!

RetroGuy2000 07-31-2020, 02:59 PM Don't worry, '80s! They can bring you back in five years. By that time, I'm sure you'll be the VP of a big corporation!
valentina warner 07-31-2020, 03:03 PM Yep 80s!
In five years you'll be what SUE ANN became: a VP of a big corporation lol!

TV Guy 08-01-2020, 10:15 PM Hopefully better than how Sue Ann did, because she was a total fraud. No one was going to believe that a 22 year old was a VP.

She was by 25 duh

Well, Beverly Ann was a "nuclear physicist", so "VP of a big corporation" seems reasonable in comparison...

Blair was 20 years old in season 6, which would make her 22 years old in season 8. I don’t think Sue Ann was three years older.

That's right: BLAIR and SUE ANN were the exact same age on the show (in real life LISA WHELCHEL and JULIE PIEKARSKI are the same age too).

I know, Im saying in 3 years she DID become VP like she said she would ;)
'80sSitcoms 08-10-2020, 10:45 PM And hey, Retro! You think the later seasons are bad? [rhetorical] I just accidentally stumbled upon the "fact" this week that in the later seasons of "Family Matters" the show WENT BACK IN TIME.
BACK.
IN.
TIME.

Retro like me doesn't acknowledge after season 4 of FM. ;)

Yeah, Lorimar and I agree on this: Family Matters isn't worth the videotape it's recorded on after Season 4. If little Judy Winslow isn't in the opening credits, I don't watch it.
'80s, it's not just the time travel stuff. It's also the science fiction cloning storylines, the weird love triangle stuff, and the eerie way family members kept disappearing. The show became... something quite different than what was originally promised. No thanks!

Well I don't know about that stuff, because I'd stopped watching long before those things happened.
Yesterday I saw where Urkel was in space.
Outer space.

Well like I said, that dang plot for a sitcom was so stale even by the mid-1980s!
