They introduced Brandy Norwood's real life brother, Ray J as Dorian (https://web.archive.org/web/20061031141222/http://www.jumptheshark.com/m/moesha.htm) in Season 5 and later revealed that Moesha's dad had an affair (https://moviechat.org/tt0115275/Moesha/58c760696b51e905f67fd37f/Why-did-they-make-Dorian-Moeshas-brother) with Dorian's mom. Sheryl Lee Ralph didn't like the change in direction because she thought it was stereotypical and ruined a positive image of a black family on TV, so she left the show. William Allen Young also felt the same, as he thought it was unnecessary to unravel the character. Don't you think that they could've kept it as Dorian being a cousin without ruining the whole dynamic of the show? It was also around this time that the show's (https://youtu.be/z4cij18VpPk) tone changed from a comedy to a dramedy to an out and out drama.

The entire Dorian storyline ruined the show for me. The entire tone of the show changed after he was added to the series.

It made Frank out as a cheater that had a child out of wedlock by cheating on his first wife and keeping it a secret from his immediate family.

Brandy (her momager) just had to have Ray J on the show and it went downhill from there in my mind.
