View Full Version : Original airing of Rachel’s Place ... anyone know?
Kittykittykittycats 07-22-2020, 03:20 PM In 2008 there WAS a YouTube link to the original 9/21/90 airing of Rachel’s Place and it had a cold opening of Steve and Eddie. Before I could download it, those jerks HAD to remove it and I’m still mad. I don’t know why they couldn’t even include it on the DVD or ITunes.
I found a script from that episode but who knows how much of the cold open was rewritten? There was also a short scene where Steve and Rachel were having a discussion before she decided she wanted to buy Leroys and turn it into Rachel’s Place.
Even Full house has missing cold opens from the original airings. Apparently the 100th episode had one, but I’ve never seen it.
If anyone knows where I can see the ORIGINAL broadcast, I’ll love you forever

"Rachel's Place" wasn't the first appearance of Steve Urkel. "Laura's First Date" was.

It was the first appearance of Bryton McClure as Richie anyway. Joseph and Julius Wright played Richie in the first season.

correct
Lorimar Television 07-30-2020, 12:21 AM I remember seeing it online. Basically Urkel was in the bathroom and Eddie tells Urkel that he’s leaving for Leroys and maybe he’ll see Steve down there. Urkel responds they had a deal and paid five bucks to be seen walking in with Eddie. Eddie says he changed his mind and is leaving the money on the table. Urkel then comes out and adjusts his glasses in the mirror saying he’s ready. As he walks out he has a big strand of toilet paper coming off his pants. He stops and says, “hey eddie, do you ever get the feeling you’re being followed?”
The other scene is of Urkel doing tai chi in the living room with some Asian inspired music playing. Rachel comes down in curlers and robe asking Steve why he’s here. He says he does his best thinking while doing tai chi and trying to figure a way to solve his problem of burning down Leroy's cause everyone keeps beating him up at school. Rachel mentions she has a problem finding a new job and then Urkel suggests the idea of her building a new restaurant over Leroys.

Right me if I am wrong, but Steve's first appearance was in the season one episode named Rachel's First Date.
God bless you always!!!

P.S. I do know that his first ever shown scene concerned himself, Carl, and a helping of ice cream and it took place in the Winslow kitchen.

Furienna 08-05-2020, 12:54 AM We always got to see all the scenes here in Sweden. I don't see why not even the DVDs can have those cold opens.
Kittykittykittycats 08-06-2020, 07:52 AM So you’ve seen that version of Rachel’s Place that I’m talking about? This is the only episode I know that has a missing cold open even in the DVD.

Thanks for this! God I wish I could actually see it. How do you remember it so well if this was only aired once? Or did you download the clip off YouTube?

On the season 5 dvd of Full House there are a lot of episodes without cold opens. Are they missing, or were cold opens just never created for these episodes?
Steve Winslow 08-31-2020, 03:32 AM There was also a season 5 episode with a missing cold open, I think it was "Scenes from a Mall" or "Money Out the Window", I can't remember right now. But I do know that the season 3 episode "Farewell My Laura" didn't have a cold open either, are these episodes missing the cold opens or were they simply never created?
