Starts Aug. 1 with best of fives:

In Toronto

#5 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #12 Montreal Canadiens
#6 Carolina Hurricanes vs. #11 New York Rangers
#7 New York Islanders vs. #10 Florida Panthers
#8 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. #9 Columbus Blue Jackets

In Edmonton

#5 Edmonton Oilers vs. #12 Chicago Blackhawks
#6 Nashville Predators vs. #11 Arizona Coyotes
#7 Vancouver Canucks vs. #10 Minnesota Wild
#8 Calgary Flames vs. #9 Winnipeg Jets

Nothing screams playoff intensity like Nashville vs. Arizona in August in Edmonton in an empty building.

Who's watching? (Me, for one)

I'm not watching baseball this year, the 60 game season that's been thrown together is going to be a joke. If there's a full 162 game season in 2021 I'll get back to watching.

I'm not watching the NBA anymore this year either, the season has already been ruined, if there's a full 82 game season in 2020-21 I'll get back to watching again.

It's the same thing with the NHL, the season has already been ruined and I'm not in the mood to watch playoff games in August in the middle of summer. That is crazy. If there's a full, normal season in 2020-21 I'll watch again.

I may watch if The Blue Jackets win the first round...I think they should be called The Ohio Blue Jackets since these Snowflake Dumb-asses see Columbus as a swear word!

You should give it a chance. It may take a few games to adjust to the no crowd scenario, but at the end of the day it’s playoff hockey (maybe with a little less fighting. But there are skirmishes. I guess if you know the other guy tested negative it’s easier to beat the hell out of him).

And the goalies set good examples by wearing masks the whole game!

Anyways, the next round of matchups (starts Tuesday):

East-

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Montreal Canadiens
Washington Capitals vs. New York Islanders
Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

West-

Las Vegas Golden Knights vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Colorado Avalanche vs. Arizona Coyotes
Dallas Stars vs. Calgary Flames
St. Louis Blues vs. Vancouver Canucks

Back to being best of 7.

Congrats on your win last night from a long-suffering Leafs fan who was hoping for better results from the other side. After the crazy comeback the other night, it almost looked like it would happen again but it was not to be. So now its off to the next round and I wish your team the best of luck no matter how far they go. You are a classy person and I understand how much you have to suffer for your teams because I have been there many times with my Leafs and Blue Jays and for a lot longer than you have.

I'll be watching the rest of the playoffs and trying to avoid making any predictions because the way they have been set up, it seems anyone can win it this year, except possibly Arizona. I don't see any chance for them at all, not that anyone over there will care. The draft lottery is this afternoon involving all the teams that were eliminated with the winner getting the first overall pick, who is expected to be junior phenom Alexis Lafreniere, so maybe there is room for one more miracle this season.

Enjoy the next round and keep your fingers crossed and see you next year!

Columbus may not be a great team, but they certainly are resilient.

I’m predicting Golden Knights vs Lighting in the finals after Lighting beat Islanders in 6 & Knights take down the Stars in 5
