Grant Imahara, a former" MythBusters" and "White Rabbit Project" host who earlier worked as a modelmaker for Industrial Light + Magic, died Monday of a a brain aneurysm. He was 49.

Imahara co-hosted more than 200 episodes of Discovery’s "MythBusters" starting with Season 3 in 2005 and remained with the show until 2014. He had made a handful of appearances since.

Former longtime "Mythbusters" host Adam Savage tweeted: “I’m at a loss. No words. I’ve been part of two big families with Grant Imahara over the last 22 years. Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON. Working with Grant was so much fun. I’ll miss my friend.”

I was always a big Mythbusters fan. I was completely shocked and saddened when I heard Grant had died. He would've been 50 in October, (I'm 51) I didn't realize he was that old and that we were so close in age. Rest in peace Grant, you will be missed. He obviously had a lot of fun making the show and was a talented robot designer and builder.

I know Grant, Kari, and Tori left “Mythbusters” a few years before it ended. Even though they were adults, they all seemed like big kids. If Grant was almost 50, I guess the other two are as well.

"Mythbusters" Host Grant Imahara Honored with Educational Foundation
by Trilby Beresford
10/23/20

In honor of the late "Mythbusters" host Grant Imahara, a foundation has been established to empower young people to get involved in science, technology, art, engineering and mathematics.

The Grant Imahara STEAM Foundation will provide mentorships, grants, and scholarships to students — regardless of socioeconomic status, race or gender — who demonstrate interest in those areas.

"There are many students, like my son Grant, who need the balance of the technical and the creative, and this is what STEAM is all about," said Carolyn Imahara, Grant’s mother and Foundation co-founder.

"I’m so proud of my son’s career, but I’m equally proud of the work he did mentoring students. He would be thrilled that we plan to continue this, plus much more, through The Grant Imahara STEAM Foundation."
