Hey guys tommrow ( July 1st) I get my braces on! I already talked to some people and they said its not that bad@
So Guys tell me what you know... what should i expect??

I didn't vote, b/c no they're not THAT bad, but they're not great either. Like, when you get em first on they hurt, but then they're fine. But they cut up your mouth until you build calices(sp?)...I kno...yucky sounding...but that's wut happens. And then they're fine, but then when they're tightened they hurt. All I can say, is don't dread it too much, it's totally worth it once your teeth are all prettiful, and it's not that bad, but, stock up on Advil.

your dentist always lies, it doesn't hurt for "one day" it hurts for 3 or 4.
stock up on that wax stuff, especially if they skip a few teeth of u loose one and theres loose wire thats not attached to a tooth. it will cut you. it will hurt.
soft foods=nutrition
if ur teeth r yellow now, dont try whitening them while the braces are on... you'll have yellow squares.
the dentist lies, you dont HAVE to brush after EVERY meal. I went 3 months brushing once a week when I was 10 (damn i was lazy) my teeth were fine and i got no cavities.
if it hurts, complain, it's fun
chew gum. eat sticky stuff. If the braces fall off its no big deal, they'll just glue them back.

That sums up how I felt about my braces. Not to make it sound terrible because it really isnt, Its totally worth it once you get them off especially if your teeth arent straight now. I was just resentful when I had to have them for a year and a half because one, i repeat ONE of my teeth came in sideways, 31 straight teeth + 1 crooked tooth = 1 evil orthodontist

You get used to them after awhile and its not so bad, and dont worry about eating sticky foods, they never know.

I have to get braces in september, my friends say that it dosen't hurt when your getting them on but you get a headace after that, and you gotta eat soft foods.My friend broke like a bracket every month! lol

I don't have them anymore but basically what everyone else said is right. It seemed to take them sooo long to put them on me though.. I was getting so sick laying back in that chair with my mouth open for two hours. That reallys made my mouth hurt. But you be aight. I miss my braces.. I want them back. lolll but not for long though.. just for like a day.

All I can say is that the first week is the worst. After that, you get used to them.

i miss mine sooo much. i hate having a retainer (although i never wear it. which is why it doesn't fit and my orthodonics started yelling at me and all...sob). it did hurt. especially since i had one of those wire thingys because one of my teeth was turned in and all and it scraped my lip. but after a couple of months it didn't hurt anymore. he tightened em but not to tight and all. have you had spacers? ugh...those were the worse. it hurt sooo bad and everything. it won't be that bad once you get em. everyone in my school had em so it was weird if you didn't have em. and i'm glad i had em for like three years. plus-you get to colorize and all. for christmas and hanukah and valentine's day. lol.

I didn't mind braces at all. In fact, I kind of liked them. They hurt every time I got them tightened, but not too much and it was only for about a day. They never got in the way of me eating anything I really wanted to, either (Except corn on the cob, but that wasn't a huge deal). Anyway, I got them June 2000 and just got them off last February. Oh, and since I never used the wax I did get cut a lot at first. But the wax just dissolved in my mouth so it didn't work anyway.

Yeah. I liked my braces better than my retainers. Retainers are so much more annoying, you lose them, you have to buy special soluution for them, BLah blah blah. Braces were easy to deal with and I always chose wacky colors for my brackets.

OH! and when they tell you not to drink soda-listen to em. i mean, drink some, but not a lot. i ended up having a hole in one of my teeth...ew.

I litterally drank 7 cans a day, not a single cavity.
