Other than the wedding episode, Adelaide and Aunt Sophia only appear in one episode together. And once Pearl came in as a full time character (Adelaide was only recurring), Aunt Sophia no longer appeared. Yeah, both ladies were written out before Pearl's introduction. As we all know, before being spun off into The Facts of Life, Charlotte Rae was promised her old role back if the spin-off didn't last. They brought in a temporary replacement for the role of the housekeeper, Nedra Volz appeared in only five episodes of the 1979-80 season. What is interesting is that Adelaide was there for more seasons than Mrs. Garrett but Edna appeared in more episodes, and she was just there for a season and a half. Then Nedra left for Filthy Rich at the end of season 4 and they hired Dody Goodman. Probably the character didn't work (I like her anyway, she is very funny) or the actress didn't want a full time role. And finally we have Pearl.
In my opinion Edna Garrett was the best housekeeper :lol::lol:
