View Full Version : I know I am being picky but I wish I can get a answer to this question about the DVD
TVFactFan 07-07-2020, 08:50 PM Wonderful set all the episodes are uncut with more footage and nice bonus features. But I just would like to know that why only 1 episode of Checking In was added as a bonus feature instead of 4 since the show only has 4 episodes?
Shout Factory gives us 1 out of 3?
OH Nuts! 07-07-2020, 09:39 PM I agree, seems silly not to include all four. But if the set rocks, as you seem to imply it does, I’d just let it go. And enjoy the bounty of goodies they did provide. The Jeffersons is a great show.

Now AITF only included 1 episode of Gloria but that show had like 20 episodes. Checking in had 4 lol
Sorry even though I love the set, the bonus feature is the weirdest of DVD release history:lol:

IMO, The Jeffersons is the best of the Norman Lear sitcoms.

I concur. So many great characters. Totally love the show.
TVFactFan 07-10-2020, 01:57 PM still made no sense they spinoff off Florence and not lionel and jenny

The old Lionel yes; didn’t care for the 2nd Lionel.
So I’m fine with there being no Lionel-Jenny spin-off.
Had Zara Cully not passed (God rest her soul) Mother Jefferson would have been a cool character for a spin-off. She was full of character. Loved her feistiness.
cloggedmind 07-10-2020, 04:23 PM Separate cost for licensing the series. And, I don't think that Shout! would go to the trouble of transferring the tapes themselves. Pretty sure they licensed uncut syndication masters (mostly. I think someone said one or two eps had little cuts) provided by Sony.
The first episode of Checking In may have been already transferred to a modern video format to be included with some syndication packages, as in the case with the pilot episode of Grady thrown in with Sanford and Son, or even the Top of the Heap pilot that gets branded as an episode of Married.. with Children.
But, who knows? Let's ramble a bit:
Maybe Sony has transferred the old quads? There is an excellent, nearly-professional set of Sanford (1980) floating around on a 5 dvd set using new, pristine digital masters (not the ones digitized from BET airings), as well as the complete Sanford Arms. All uncut, no time-compression, no channel logos, and the modern Sony logo tacked on the end. Likely, these could turn up on streaming like Grady did.

That **** would have been cancelled during the commerical break LOL

Sony's version of George and Louise in a Bind was edited but not Shout Factory.
Hopefully the christmas episode of Grady appears somewhere one day lol
