"Right before COVID, they were in talks of rebooting the show," Chokachi recently said on The Production Meeting podcast. "They were going to bring back three of the regulars from the original and I'm one of them, I found out, which is cool." Chokachi also said the failure of the 2017 Baywatch movie killed a previous attempt to reboot the show.

Original Baywatch Star Carmen Electra Is Open To A Reboot (https://screenrant.com/baywatch-show-reboot-carmen-electra-interest/)

In a recent interview, original Baywatch actress Carmen Electra states that she is open to a possible reboot of the television classic.

Carmen Electra admitted that she would be open to doing a Baywatch reboot. The classic television show premiered in 1989 and ended in 2001, at one point becoming the most watched television show in the world with over a billion viewers. As a heavyweight of American pop culture, Baywatch has had many parodies and spin-offs, including the 2017 film Baywatch starring Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson.

Baywatch, a drama about lifeguards protecting the beaches of Los Angeles (and, later on, Hawaii) was well known for its exciting action, soap-opera-like drama, and, of course, the iconic slow motion running shots. In addition, it had a large ensemble cast with many rotating characters, the most notable being David Hasselhoff's Mitch Buchannon, and Pamela Anderson's C. J. Parker. Baywatch solidified many actors’ and actress’ place in Hollywood as hunks and bombshells, including Carmen Electra who played the character Lani McKenzie. Electra played Lani for one season in 1997, reprising her role in the spin-off TV movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding in 2003.
