It would be fantastic if this one got solved as this was one I kind of lost hope on.

Hopefully they are able to get something viable out of this.

That's interesting. His name did not come up in the 48 Hours episode on the case.

The whole thing thing seems very tenuous-Pruin's death isn't even listed as a homicide, but rather undetermined. How exactly would a news anchor that wasn't even an investigative reporter, who lived a somewhat hectic lifestyle have time to be investigating his death? How would she be able to do this any better than the police? Sounds like this Johnson woman is just looking for a way to get out of jail & bitter at him for getting her involved in his stupid murder plot.

I'd like to say about the clip that besides its content, it's kind of nice to see people leading a TV news cast who just look like ordinary people.

Bily Pruin lived near Mason City. On April 4th, 1995, Pruin took his pickup to Mason City to pick up a new tractor he had just purchased. He left the pickup at Brakke Implement and drove his new tractor home. Calls to Pruin that night went unanswered. The next day, a friend went to the farmhouse to check on Pruin. The door was open about 4 inches and his keys were in the outside lock of the door. He called out to his friend and received no answer so he left. The next morning, Pruin’s mother went to the house to check on her son. She found him dead in the dining room. Investigating officers responding to the scene reported that it was apparent there had been a gunshot wound to the chest. The expended slug from Pruin’s .44 magnum had hit the ceiling and fell to the tile floor in the kitchen. Initially, his death was ruled a suicide but was later changed to undetermined.

One of the people who was troubled by his death was Jodi Huisentruit. According to friends and relatives of Jodi, she was possibly investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Jodi was abducted almost three months after Billy Pruin died. There have been suspicions Jodi found something out. Pruin left his keys in the outside lock of the door, crossed the kitchen and entered the dining room, getting his revolver. Somehow the revolver discharged. Friends believe there was a struggle and Pruin was shot.

According to the Sheriff’s report, there were no identifiable prints on the revolver that Pruin reportedly had in his hand. His hands were placed in paper bags, but there is no record of any gunshot residue on them or any of the clothing he had on. Pruin’s fiancee said he was “afraid of something” several weeks before his death. Also, Pruin was very outspoken about the growing Meth epidemic in northern Iowa.

One of the theories is that Dustin Honken, a known drug dealer and murderer, killed Billy Pruin and that after Jodi started investigating, she was able to link the two. As others said, there is also a possible link between Honken's girlfriend and Jodi. I think this link between Jodi and Honken is pretty thin. Honken is a giant P.O.S. and I don’t think that Pruin killed himself, but those two events aren’t necessarily related, and if they are, it is a further stretch to think Honken abducted and murdered Jodi IMO.

Steve Ridge, who has been investigating this case in recent years, is convinced an arrest is imminent in this case one way or another. I hope that’s the case, but I’m not sure it involves Dustin Honken.

Not sure if Honken talked or not but if he didn't before Friday afternoon, July 17th, it's too late now. The execution did take place.
