Season 3 was firing on all cylinders with characters well developed and lighter stories and I can only imagine what season 4 of GT would have been like if James stayed on the show.

In season 4 with James aboard, they could have reduced JJ's shenanigans, give more air time to other characters on show. And with a better writing, GT would have been south side equivalent version of Jeffersons :D

Moving out of project might have been too much of a change for the show since producers had to change the set and characters associated with living in project. And the show would have lost some its charm due to being in the project.

Better change might be to move Evans to three bedroom apartment in the same building with everybody having their own room. This way JJ would't be hanging around in the living room 24/7 and intruding in every situation :D

Well even that would have been fine because it would have showed progress. The show was just dealt with ongoing financial issues

Remember what happened to “Laverne & Shirley” when they moved out of the basement.

That was the appeal of the show? When they left the basement is that when they went to California?

Really they shouldn't have if Florida was working, and JJ and Thelma get a part time job after school. I used to work at a taco joint on weekends when I was in high school.

That was one of the criticisms of the show early on, why was the mom not working and had older kids
