View Full Version : Nancy McKeon to be interviewed tonight
80s Dude 06-18-2020, 01:01 PM Nancy M. will be interviewed tonight (6/18/2020). I think this is the first interview since Phillip's death. Apparently this guy appeared on one episode of the Facts of Life.
Now the main question is what 6 PM Time Zone this guy is talking about.

Oo, interesting, thanks for the note...and his radio show is in Las Vegas, so it's 6 p.m. mountain time.

Oh, and he appeared in 3 episodes. He was "Flyman".

I don't think I ever saw an episode with Flyman.

They're in the Over Our Heads years. When the girls fly down to Florida for the spring break 2-parter, and then when they go to Atlantic City in an episode later on.
80s Dude 06-18-2020, 02:19 PM After the Eastland years (I graduated the same time as Blair and Jo), I went to college/univerity and didn't have much time to watch TV. About the only thing I watched was sports and Cheers between classes, activities, part time jobs.
'80sSitcoms 06-18-2020, 02:22 PM Cool, you were going along through school with the girls. "Cheers" is so good. My favorite character is Lilith.
80s Dude 06-18-2020, 05:04 PM Norm was my favorite.
80s Dude 06-18-2020, 05:06 PM My father worked at a boarding school (for boys), so I do have lots of connection to this show. I had friends from that school. I didn't go.
'80sSitcoms 06-18-2020, 05:44 PM Cool. 👍
'80sSitcoms 06-18-2020, 08:08 PM Hey! You said it was 6 pm! It's 7!
(okay I'm not really mad, but I did already have my evening planned, lol)

Florida was towards the end of last season of Edna's Edibles.
It's nice to know he keeps in touch with Nancy. Everyone talks about her reputation being angry on the set. It obviously wasn't as severe as people make it sound since there's people from the show who talk to her still.

Ah, well, I'm not as sharp on my knowledge with the details of the later years. My heart is in the Eastland years. :) (but at least I was close, lol)
It's nice to know he keeps in touch with Nancy.
Does he? I just assumed they hadn't been in touch since FOL and he reached out to her to be on his show.
Everyone talks about her reputation being angry on the set.
Hey, I'm part of "everyone", and I don't! :p I've only observed others talk about it, since I've never seen any of the sources that mention it.
It obviously wasn't as severe as people make it sound since there's people from the show who talk to her still.
If it was true, maybe it was just a phase? :lookaroun

Not even season 5, the darkest season of the series?
Does he? I just assumed they hadn't been in touch since FOL and he reached out to her to be on his show.
Gonna be honest, if a coworker from a previous job years ago wanted to hang or talk and I haven't seen them since we worked together, I would say no  I'm not antisocial, I just don't see the point of visiting with someone who you hadn't seen in years. Losing contact with someone is usually a thing done on purpose because they didn't mean that much to keep around as a friend. I'm assuming these two must have stayed in contact and that's how he knew how to reach her after all these years.

I go by the Shannen Doherty rule when hearing gossip of actresses and actors. If someone was really a pain to work with, multiple people would be speaking out about it like they did with Shannen. Charlie Sheen went through that with Two & A Half Men. Roseanne went through that when she was fired. Bea Arthur went through that with The Golden Girls. I don't hear any other actors and actresses speak negative of Nancy in a way that shows she's an angry person to work with.
'80sSitcoms 06-18-2020, 09:00 PM Not even season 5, the darkest season of the series?
Haha, well since I love the Eastland years so much, I do like season 5 a lot because it's stretching Mrs. Garrett on new wings taking her from her familiar cafeteria to new horizons being her own businesswoman off campus "in town". And it's fun to see the girls adjust to their worlds changing with college and a new store to work in.

I see it more as a thing that "just happens". It's kinda like Natalie says in "Graduation", people say they'll keep in touch, but they don't. I haven't been in touch with my college best friend in several years, but if we connected again, I'd totally be up for getting together and hanging out if we met up somewhere near one of our towns.
I'm assuming these two must have stayed in contact and that's how he knew how to reach her after all these years.
Possibly, sure. I just wouldn't really see them staying in touch since they only worked together a few times. And people love to reach out to grab good guests for radio shows and podcasts, so maybe they haven't been in touch. But you never know! lol

It was writer and now satirist Andy Borowitz who said Nancy M. was nicknamed "Angry Jo" by the writers. From her contract hold out to Alex Rocco saying she once threw a script across a room, there appears to be validity to the Angry Jo claims.
80s Dude 06-18-2020, 09:49 PM Wow, that was a waste of time. They started out playing mainly music for the first half hour. When they got to Nancy M., the interview was only about 3 minutes long.
Two tidbits.
1. Nancy M. said she is having a new series coming out on Amazon.com called "Panic", but the filming was interrupted by the pandemic.
2. Nancy M. said that she found her 80s hairstyle later in the Facts of Life "awkward".
That was it.
'80sSitcoms 06-18-2020, 10:22 PM That's it? Wow, I'm glad I didn't stick around. This was getting in the way of my nighttime nature walk and when she still wasn't on after 10 minutes, I said forget it and left for my walk, lol. And I'm glad I did, it was a great night for one for me. :)

Do you go out on a walk after dinner too? (i love going for 'mystic' night walks too):violin::violin::violin::violin::violin::violin::violin::violin::violin:

I do! Only I don't have 9 ghost vionists following me around playing music for my walk!
But for me they're not so much "after dinner" walks as they're "dusk/night walks". That's when I love going out . So in the early springtime that can be close to 7:30, but right now in late spring it's after 9:00! lol...I live near a nature park that's made up of several different biomes all in one park: park grounds, forest, farm fields, meadows, and wetlands that lead into a large lake that has a few docks (but no boating).
There are deer everywhere (one time I got a pic of 17 deer dining at dusk), and birds, and there are waterfowl and turtles in the lake, and froggies around (Hi Leon!), and woodland critters (I once saw a raccoon swimming in the wetlands!)
And right now it's at the height of the firefly season (I used to say "lightning bugs", but "fireflies" is much more mystical and ethereal; some would say it's more "romantic"). Tonight it was just very, very lightly raining, and while under my umbrella you could hear the crickets and the frogs in the wetlands as the fireflies were glittering all over the place. It was so beautiful. :eyes:
There are even a few big boulders in one part---I think I'll name one of them "Cooper's Rock"! :ladiesman

Thanks for saving me the time to listen, 80s Dude!
I also find some of Nancy's later '80s hairdos awkward, as she says, but I also find some of it quite cute. There are some really good looks for her, some of which were even believable for Jo to be wearing.

We always called them "lightning bugs", too, but "fireflies" seems like a better term all the way around.
Like you, I enjoy walks in the evenings/nights, in nature. While I enjoy seeing deer, I don't like them on my property: they tend to eat my fruit trees, which weren't planted for them to enjoy.

COOPER's ROCK: i have heard that name before, but where? Was it maybe in the movie STAND BY ME?popcorn:popcorn:popcorn:
That place where you live sounds like heaven: i would love to hear crickets under the rain too!!!!
Right now with the 'Lock down' we get to see more wild animals: i bump into foxes almost every day, squirrels, birds of any kinds etc.... I do live in a city but it's not exactly the city center (it's more like uptown) so it tends to be rather quiet. :ducky::ducky::ducky:
i'm glad you liked the 9 ghosts violinists i sent after you though!!!!:bouncers:bouncers:bouncers

Silly valentina, it's in our show "THE FACTS OF LIFE"!
It's in season 3's "Dear Me", when the kids are all talking about the overnight camping trip and "Cooper's Rock"! All the girls and Mrs. Garrett are in the cafeteria with a few Bates boys! :)
That place where you live sounds like heaven: i would love to hear crickets under the rain too!!!!
Yes, those are my favorite weather and nature conditions for my walks in spring. :) (then in the autumn I love all the "autumnness" of nature")

Yep: the foxes are everywhere around us, and i guess the fact that we have a garden helps lol!!!! (i live near a mountain maybe that's why, too):dog::dog::dog:

You do? Oh wow, very cool!
In the version of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" when C.S. Lewis made a few very small revisions for the American release, when the 4 kids at the beginning are excited to think of what animals they'll see the woods, Lewis changed Susan's "Rabbits!" to "Foxes!"---interesting!

Well s9s hair was better than the other 3 Atleast....
I didn't much care for Jo's later hairstyles, though I didn't mind when she'd wear it in a ponytail or wear it up.

Perhaps Kelly. Pippa was not around then.

Pamela Adlon (Kelly) also said that Nancy Mckeon had a bad attitude as well (allegedly).
