ABC has ordered a second season of mid-season legal drama series "For Life".

The show, from creator Hank Steinberg, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Sony Pictures TV and ABC Studios, was one of two freshman series left on the bubble by ABC after it made the bulk of its renewals and cancellations last month.

Following a modest ratings start, "For Life" quickly developed a following from its solid digital viewership despite soft linear numbers.

Additionally, the network brass have been big fans of series’ star Nicholas Pinnock and believed in the show’s potential, though some adjustments to the concept are expected for Season 2.

“For Life just got renewed for season two by ABC!,” Jackson said.

“It’s more than just a show, it’s a fight for justice and we’re keeping the fight going. Isaac Wright Jr stood up to the system and won his freedom and now more than ever, we need to keep telling the story inspired by his life. Creator Hank Steinberg and his team of writers are ready to continue exploring and exposing the flaws in the system which is so important now more than ever. I told you it would happen.”

ABC's For Life halts production over inconsistent coronavirus test results (https://deadline.com/2020/09/for-life-pauses-production-inconsistent-covid-test-results-shutdown-abc-1234575760/)

“As a result of some inconsistent test results, and out of an abundance of caution, we paused production earlier (Friday),” a spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television tells Deadline, which reports that "multiple people on the show produced positive tests, followed by negative results." Production is expected to resume on Monday.

Aaron Wallace’s fight continues in season two of "For Life", as the wrongfully convicted prisoner-turned-litigator and social crusader embarks on a more personal journey. Aaron is motivated by the hope of being reunited with his family and reclaiming a life of freedom to take up the mantle against systemic injustice from outside the prison walls.

With continued help from the people who supported him—his family, a wily one-time public defender, Henry Roswell, and his former prison warden, Safiya Masry—Aaron continues his battle against the very political machine that once put him away, undeservedly.
