View Full Version : I wonder what Blair’s Eastland spinoff would have been called...

...had it been picked up. Logically, they probably would have called it “Facts of Life: The Next Generation” or something like that so they would have had the option of rolling it into the regular syndication package if it didn’t last, or having a separate syndication package if it had.

Facts of Life: The New Class

Eastland

Facts of Life: The New Adventures of Blair

Blair!: The All New Facts Of Life

The Girls School

Blair’s Bairns

Good question.

"The Girls' School" wouldn't have worked anymore, since there were now boys at Eastland. "Blair!: The All New Facts Of Life" definitely has that cheesy '80s vibe!

Haha, it does!

Personaly, I'd prefer:

Maybe it would have been, "Eastland: Blair's Facts of Life".

Ha - you’re right about The Girls School.

I thought of two more.

The Facts of Life: A New Beginning (remember Little House?)

FOL: Peekskill

The Facts of Life: A New Beginning

Only if they blow up the town in the final episode. When little Mayim Biyalik has to push the TNT plunger to destroy the dorm, there won't be a dry eye in the house.

:rotflmao:

Evil Mr Bradley returns to Eastland with proof that he owns the land under the buildings! The school is welcome to stay, but they all must work for him now. But Blair has other ideas.

Do you think Mayim and co will march out of Eastland singing “Onward Christian Soldiers”, as the descendants of Romeo and Juliet from “Flash Flood” overrun the place?

I love where this is going, but I think the evil landlord should be Mr. Crocker, the OG Evil Headmaster, from "The Girls' School" days. He had a maniacal grin that would be perfect for this episode!

Yes. Yes. Yes! All of that must happen. But we'll have to disguise the lyrics, so it won't be so obvious as a "LH: Last Farewell" rip-off. How about:

Onward, Eastland students
Permppa was a bore
Now the garb of Eastland's
Shoved into a drawer.

...Obviously, this is still a work in progress. But I feel like we have a good portion of the, ahem, "plot".

Speaking of "Good Morning, Miss Bliss", I just finished re-watching a Disney Haley Mills movie a few minutes ago. 1964's "The Moon-Spinners", partly filmed in Crete, Greece.

Ah - The Moonspinners - Disney’s homage to Hitchcock. A little pokey but not bad at all. And the Crete scenery is stunning. This one was run fairly often as part of the Disney anthology series in the 60s-80s, and they always used the windmill scene as part of the promos for it.

Yeah, I believe Leonard Maltin highlights the windmill scene in "The Disney Films", and that is a really cool scene. And I just love Haley in those old Disney films. :)

Yeah, it's kind of a "light travel fare" movie. The villain really is despicable though. And I myself love Greek mythology, so it's cool to see authentic Crete and an actual temple of Apollo. 👍 (I like the title song, too---even though the film's title doesn't have anything to do with the premise, lol)

Hayley just had that special something, didn’t she? Charm and charisma and screen presence. So enjoyable to watch regardless of script quality. Im assuming you’ve seen The Trouble With Angels, which I think was her best role as a child/young adult. She gets to be more mischievous than she was in Disney, but with a lot of heart, too. I was surprised that that movie didn’t lead to more comedies for her and a bigger career as she transitioned into adult roles, because it was a huge hit. But perhaps she wanted to do something different.

Yes. As for her Disney roles I've only seen "Summer Magic" and "In Search of the Castaways" once, but I own "Pollyanna" and "The Parent Trap" and "The Moon-Spinners" and "That Darn Cat" on DVD. TPT is such a classic, and she is absolutely perfect as Pollyanna.

I have, but only once so far. But my favorite Hayley movies are definitely "Pollyanna" and "The Parent Trap".

Who knows? The biggest Hayley mystery for me is why she didn't voice Princess Eilonwy in 1985's "The Black Cauldron". She was slated to, and she even hosts a documentary about the upcoming feature, as she was cast as the voice of Eilonwy. But then the film came out and it was Susan Sheridan instead. And I have seen no documentation or evidence as to WHY Haley was not part of the finished film. That is so odd to me.
