..character/actor of the Elite 8 on this board in recent years? It seems that even Urchin Andy gets more coverage than Jo.

Possible reasons for this. Nancy M. does not have many projects in recent years (except for Dancing with the Stars) and doesn't appear on social media much. She doesn't do documentaries.

Haha well I think a lot of Nancy McKeon fans have left over the years and most of us here are S1 fans now. Even the non S1 fans seem to not be too fond of Jo though here.

Possibly. During my early years as a member of this site I would've never thought I'd see the day. I'm not complaining.

Nearly 15 years ago, you would be rebuked or told to get your head examined if you dared to criticize Nancy or even the character of Jo. Her most ardent fans placed Nancy~Jo on a pedestal. She was seen as untouchable.

What I think happened was that the other girls (and the missing ones too) fondly reminisce the great times of working on FOL. They welcome questions about the show and their memories. I perceive that Nancy M doesn't do a lot of that. I believe that she doesn't want to answer questions about the show; only discuss what she currently is working on or "wants" to be doing.

Perhaps that has put off some of the Nancy~Jo idol worshipping that used to be so prevalent here.

Possibly, though social media 19 years ago wasn't nearly what it is now. I think it was a whole lot of younger fans that grew up with the show on USA or recently discovered it on Nick@Nite or Hallmark, and they all happened to love Jo/NancyMckeon. They just came out of the woodwork.

i did discover fol on nick at nite 2000-2001 and yes this board was very nancy mckeon heavy i am a big fan of her and the character it is sad to see a lot of that has died over the past decade.

I didn't criticize either the character or the actress, just making an observation that she is not much of the topic of conversation (except for her birthday) this year.

Obviously the JO fans are have never watched the pilot episode from 'The girls school' and season 1, or they would know that BLAIR was the star....

And some may have seen TGS, and many had certainly seen season 1, so they knew what was up. It's that for them, the show didn't "start" until season 2, which is that way for a lot of fans.

My guess is in 19 more years this place will be overrun by all the big fans of Miss Mahoney and Howard. :lol:

Even though the Lost Staff were never major characters, I do think they brought a lot to the show, simply by the virtue of them being there at Eastland. It felt more like a school, having them around. Once Miss Mahoney was gone, Mr. Bradley had to teach classes. He probably would have been roped into working as the cook, if he hadn't been "made free". :lol:

Back 15 years ago, Nancy M. had the leading role in The Division. At that time I think she wanted to be known for her present career, not her past. William Shatner probably didn't do much Star Trek stuff when he was in TJ Hooker.

There were times when Nancy M. had to walk back some comments she made. Such as when she said she would do the 2001 reunion if the Jo character was killed. She later said she was joking when she got hostile responses from fans.

Mindy Cohn, though, may be picking up Nancy's anti-nostalgia stance; see that Entertainment Weekly feature, where she (and Kim Fields) refused to be interviewed. Cohn said "I’m very happy with everything I’ve had to say on the subject to date, and I simply don’t know what more I can add. Right now, I’m focused forward and driven by new goals, projects, and adventure."

Yes JR1, and that was extremely unfortunate. They were on that show for nine years---NINE. There were HUNDREDS of stories and anecdotes and behind-the-scenes nuggets they could have shared had they chosen to reminisce. It's really a shame, and that wasn't a good excuse at all.

A lot of those Nancy/Jo stans were ridiculous because they would turn around and hate on Kim Fields and especially the Tootie character. I'm glad I wasn't around in 2001 but I was reading old posts on this board. Jo is one of my favorite characters but i can't stomach a lot of her fans. They are also on the Division board as well. Is it a coincidence that they tend to rank the black characters as their least favorite?
