Mae Whitman is turning 32 today. Whitman began acting at a very early age, and made her feature film debut at six, as Meg Ryan’s daughter in When a Man Loves a Woman. She went on to play Bill Pullman’s daughter in Independence Day, George Clooney’s daughter in One Fine Day, and Sandra Bullock’s daughter in Hope Floats.
Whitman was one of the leads on the Fox Family series State of Grace, which ran for two seasons in 2001-02. She appeared as the recurring character of Ann Veal on Arrested Development, and then was cast as the regular character of Amber Holt on NBC’s Parenthood. In feature films, she has had supporting roles in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (as Roxy Richter) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, among others.
Whitman landed her first starring feature role in 2015, as Bianca Piper in The DUFF. Since 2018, she has been starring on NBC’s Good Girls as Annie Marks. The show was recently renewed for a fourth season.
