I have decided to purchase the series. I got season 1 for $7 shipped to the house and season 4 for $20 to the house. The rest are like $30+ per season.

Any suggestions?

Buy 'em. Nothing good is free.

See if you can download the Tubi app. If you can, the entire series is there for free. The only catch is you do have to watch a commercial or two.

Yep, its the commercials that I don't want. For some reason, I cannot watch on Chrome if there are commercials.

I will keep looking. I have a month until my Prime expirers.

Thanks

oldies.com or moviezyng.com. I've bought from oldies.com, and a contact of mine has bought from moviezyng.com. I did not check either to see if they have FKB, but they might. Either might have better prices than Amazon, but it strikes me that oldies.com has pretty high shipping prices.

They run neck and neck with Amazon once you factor in shipping. I haven't bought off of eBay in forever and I know Amazon will do me right if something happens.

In my opinion Ebay is VERY risky on DVD sets. You stand a chance of getting illegally ripped sets that don't play right.

I'm not sure why any season of FKB would be running $30, unless they're now discontinued. Another place you could check is the Shout Factory site itself.

That's why I look at the seller's feedback

They are $25 but I didn't check shipping.

I am on there right now and if I buy at least two seasons at a time I can get free shipping so that beats Amazons $35 for seasons 5&6

Ebay is OK for buying DVD's as long as you're careful who you buy from. I've made several DVD purchases on Ebay and never had a problem, never ended up with a bootleg. A few years ago on Ebay I found a good deal for seasons 1-4 of Lou Grant, the price was $48 which is $12 per season. Also found a good deal for the complete series of Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, I paid $67 for that one.

I almost got in trouble with Dark Shadows on there but was saved by (as Fact Fan said) the feedback comments.

Maybe that was too strong a comment I made. Better would be to research the seller before buying.

I don't feel great about eBay, might be unwarranted, but...

Just look at the seller's feedback. I mean you would buy from someone who is 80% vs 100%

Sure, but if something does go south, I know that Amazon will make it right and quickly. I do not know if eBay will.

Well if that’s dealbreaker I guess you’ll just have to pony up.

If you’re willing to spend the bucks, it might be worth it to spend a little more to ensure you get them from a reliable source. I mean, this is something you’ll have for a lifetime.

I screwed up. I wanted season 1 and now that it is here it is only Vol 1 and only a few episodes.

Amazon states they are going to refund my money and I do not have to return the DVD, but now I cannot find a full season 1. Ugh!

Are you referring to the season 1 DVD advertised up top?

Actually, that is where I ended up getting one. I saw that and clicked on it and it took me to a different page for season 1.

Hopefully, this is the correct one. And this is why I like Amazon because I had my refund before the delivery driver had a chance to drive to the end of my street.

Thanks. Season 4 should be here next week. I'll have to wait and see if I bought the correct DVD

I think only season 1 has that abbreviated version. Season 1 is the one Shout screwed up with a lot of syndicated, edited episodes. They got so much flack that they straightened up and flew right for seasons 2 thru 6.

On season 6 I pointed out to them where to find the correct season opener. For season 4 they found it themselves. For season 5 they were AWOL and used the Screen Gems syndication opener. Stuff only Mr. Picky (me) would care about!

Yes, there was another show that used an abbreviated version for their season one. I noticed that and did not make the mistake of buying it, so I did know to look out for such things. The lower price tag should have alerted me as well.

I have not seen abbreviated versions for awhile. I guess most people do not like them. I looked for a complete all six season set but could not find any. I do not know if they make them or not.

The other season 1 bungled set from Shout is Rhoda.

As far as I know there is no complete series set for FKB. Obviously I think we're beyond the point where it would ever happen.

Tankeryanker

I think it was season one of The Big Valley that was abridged.

I am not sure when FKB came out on DVD. I guess it was a while ago. I am a latecomer to the show.

Oh well. Now I wait and see if the rest show up in good condition so I can be a satisfied customer.

FKB releases went between 2008 and around 2010 or 2011.

There's lots of problem DVD sets out there. My Three Sons has 5 seasons out of 12 released, and there are problems with every one--minor, but still problems. And they charged an arm and a leg for them.

No show's releases are perfect but some come close, like the Beaver series set from Shout.

FWIW, another source that should always be checked if you are looking to build a home collection cheaply, is the Salvation Army, Goodwill, and any other thrift stores you migh have in your area.

I scored "Rocky and Bullwinkle complete seasons 1 & 2" for a buck apiece, and they looked as though they had never been played. Also scored big on several seasons of the Rifleman, Have Gun, Will Travel, and Family Guy.

One aspect that many never consider in regard to the Salvation Army, is that not all of their donations come from people clearing the junk out of their garages.

They get a lot of calls from people who have recently inherited a house, and after they have swooped on all the jewelry and other hi dollar items, they just call the Salvation Army and say "come clean out what's left by next Friday" because their primary interest is in putting the house up for sale.

I once managed a Salvation Army store for a couple years as a gap filler between good jobs. And it is absolutely incredible some of the things that find their way into those stores. Granted, it's often like looking for a rose in a vacant lot......but every once in a while it makes you darn glad you bothered to look.

TV show dvds and VHS tend to sit on the shelves undisturbed, from my experiences

One rarity that I would LOVE to find on DVD is the "Happy Harmonies" cartoons from the 1930s. Unmatched for the beauty of their artwork. so far as I know they have only been released on Laserdisc, long ago.
I've managed to scrape up a few of my favorites at Youtube.....but the media quality is so poor at any reasonable screen size that the splendor of the artwork is lost.

Another place to try is Half Price Books. Excellent selection of used DVDs.

Along with thrift stores and flea markets, check if your local library has a used book sale room. With people losing interest in DVD collecting, I've scored some pretty good stuff for 2 and 3 bucks at mine.

The same thing happened to me! Somehow the page switched and I ordered the one disk set. I returned mine, they paid the shipping. Amazon also sent the wrong Mamas Family season 1 set twice.

Here is where I bought the full first season and for only $5.95! I think it is $4.00 shipping for any size order. I also ordered Mama's Family super cheap when I ordered FNB.

Okay, I have received in excellent condition season 1, 3, and 4. I got them used. The most I paid was $12 for a season the least was $7.

If you see 2, 5, or 6 for a reasonable price, please post the info.

Thanks a ton.

Sorry, slightly off the subject. It's amazing how much they cut out of the TV showings. I was watching A Matter of Pride, near the end of season 4 on DVD. This is an episode where Bud wants white shoes, and buys them too small. Well his feet get worse and worse, and he goes to a junior class picnic that includes dancing. Funny scene where he's trying to dance, all cut out on TV. Get the DVDs, folks. The full episodes are so much better, the quality is better, they flow better, and make more sense.
