View Full Version : Was there ever a character named “Poppy”? TV Guy 06-02-2020, 04:26 PM It seems like a hoity-toity boarding school like Eastland would have at least one Poppy. '80sSitcoms 06-02-2020, 05:01 PM Nope. Sounds like a male name to me anyway. Lorimar Television 06-02-2020, 08:26 PM There is a Tumpy and Kedgy though TV Guy 06-02-2020, 08:57 PM It’s Poppy the flower, like Poppy Lifton on Gossip Girl. RetroGuy2000 06-02-2020, 09:22 PM No Poppy, but in "Dope", Tootie jokingly mentions a Poopy, Bippy, Dippy, and Snitsy. Later, Tumpy mentions Bitsy, who is a real student. '80sSitcoms 06-02-2020, 09:34 PM No Poppy, but in "Dope", Tootie jokingly mentions a Poopy A Poopsie. F.A.C.T. ;) RetroGuy2000 06-02-2020, 09:44 PM A Poopsie. F.A.C.T. ;) What F.A.C.T. is that? The first name she says doesn't sound like "Poopsie" to me. Sounds like Poopy. valentina warner 06-02-2020, 09:50 PM TUMPY was the best on 'Dope'!!!! '80sSitcoms 06-02-2020, 09:50 PM What F.A.C.T. is that? The first name she says doesn't sound like "Poopsie" to me. Sounds like Poopy. Oh wait, you are right! BUT, in Tumpy's doorway she definitely says, "And I ain't Poopsie or Snitsy, either." Be consistent, Tootie! RetroGuy2000 06-02-2020, 09:52 PM Oh wait, you are right! See? BUT, in Tumpy's doorway she definitely says, "And I ain't Poopsie or Snitsy, either." Yep! Be consistent, Tootie! :lol::lol::lol: '80sSitcoms 06-02-2020, 09:55 PM See? Yes, but I was thinking from my example. ;) 1 for each of us! TV Guy 06-03-2020, 09:38 AM Were there any other episodes where they played up the snooty/mean girl aspect of the boarding school? I remember Margo in TNG2, but that’s about it. The main characters were surprisingly grounded. RetroGuy2000 06-03-2020, 10:01 AM Were there any other episodes where they played up the snooty/mean girl aspect of the boarding school? I remember Margo in TNG2, but that’s about it. The main characters were surprisingly grounded. Margo in TNG2 is a good example. Tumpy, Emily, and Gail in "The Group" (in the episode "Dope") was a "mean girl" moment (Nancy isn't allowed in "The Group"), and in "Sex Symbol", Sue Ann, Nancy, and Cindy make fun of Natalie and Helen in a very "mean girls" way. There was also gossip about Mrs. Garrett in "Gossip", and some mean moments in "Kids Can Be Cruel". Boots was also snobby, but that was post-Eastland. 80s Dude 06-03-2020, 10:17 AM You had Princess Alex. They should have had Margo in more episodes. She could have been a villain in the Newman of Seinfeld vain. RetroGuy2000 06-03-2020, 10:21 AM You had Princess Alex. They should have had Margo in more episodes. She could have been a villain in the Newman of Seinfeld vain. That would have been cool; she definitely was memorable as a snob. TV Guy 06-03-2020, 10:25 AM Then they would have had to explain why she wasn’t hanging around with Molly anymore! (JK - because I never understood why socially-conscious Molly was eating with her to begin with.) RetroGuy2000 06-03-2020, 10:39 AM Then they would have had to explain why she wasn’t hanging around with Molly anymore! (JK - because I never understood why socially-conscious Molly was eating with her to begin with.) Since we know Mrs. G was in charge of the room assignments that year (that's how Blair and Jo got to be roommates when they first met), I fanwank and say Mrs. G put Margo and Molly together, hoping a little of Molly's social justice would rub off on Margo. icecream 06-03-2020, 10:42 AM Nope. Sounds like a male name to me anyway.A female actress who was in Without a Trace is named Poppy Montgomery. |
