In Beaver’s Poem I can hear her now “Don’t write it for him.”

In Beaver’s Poster she says “He looked so sad I would think you can draw him a lovely poster.”

Ward learned something in Beaver’s Poem don’t do his homework you will have to face Mrs. Rayburn. So why was June telling him to do his poster? I know the writers never saw the earlier seasons.

Btw I’m convinced Beaver was mentally challenged not having a subject before he started painting and soaking both sides of the board.

When Ward has a book and sketching an outline for Beaver you see the pages side when there’s a closeup of Ward the binder park is now showing. Continuity.

Yes, a central theme of the Poem episode is June's insistence that Ward is wrong for writing the poem. And I never noticed she's the total opposite in the Poster.

When you see another sitcom -- Andy Griffith, I think, (or it could be My Three Sons) you see a credit Script Continuity Ruth Burch (may be the name). So presumably it was this person's job to point out things like this in their show's scripts, and the writer would revise it. Now they missed things too, like Clara's two last names, Goober's last name not being Pyle in an early appearance, etc.

I recently saw the episode when Goober gets a girl, Lydia. I would hate to play that character he was so awkward almost mentally challenged. He’s told what to say to Lydia and then abruptly leaves as he ran out of conversation.

The two of them showing up not realizing they’re interrupting an evening with Andy and Barney and their girls because they finished all the candy and had nothing to do. You wonder how Goober and Lydia survived as long as they did.

Lydia however was very funny. As to a movie “I already saw it”, how about bowling “If I tried to throw a ball I’d be in traction for a month.” Let’s go for a drive “I get carsick. “ Very funny but so embarrassing playing Goober.

I read somewhere where George Lindsay said that Andy could be totally irritable and unapproachable later in the show and he stayed away from him so he wouldn’t scream at him. Andy seemed annoyed with the character.

Andy's role later seemed to be, being irritated. To Opie, "You got somethin' to do?" As in, dismissed!

One thing I liked was the show's treatment of Howard McNear--they allowed him to continue despite his declining mobility.

Lydia was in another episode before this one, but she "made" that date with Goober episode. Also funny is the scene where Barney and Goober are spying on Andy and Helen, allegedly to give Goober tips. And Goober starts cheering Andy on. In the Mayberry RFD years they made him seem a little more intelligent--but not much. In one episode he thought he was competing for best gas sales (for a trip to Hawaii), but he was working on it in the wrong month.

Never saw Mayberry, RFD. It wasn’t The Andy Griffith Show not with Ken Berry and Arlene Golonka. I happened on one episode about how the women were wearing their skirts midi length upsetting all the men. I thought who wrote this #~*€!

That WAS a lousy episode. There were many of them, unfortunately. One good one was where Howard read poems on TV. Then he acted like a big shot with Emmett and Goober, and they decided to play a joke on him and write a fake love letter to him. The actress who played Charlene Darling (now playing a waitress at the diner) signed the letter.

MRFD got good ratings, but was a victim of the CBS purge. Bev. Hillbillies was a victim, too--it deserved it, and probably overstayed its welcome by about 2 or 3 seasons.

The women had the best TAGS episodes--Charlene, fun girls, Lydia Crosswaithe.

Helen Crump--uh, no. Helene Alexian Dubois can stuff it.

Not a Helen fan either. Loved how taken Andy was when Charlene sings that lovely tune ‘There is a time when leaves are falling.’ Very pretty song. “Makes me cry!“

Ugh - Helen. They should have keep Peggy (Joanna Moore) around. She was beautiful, charming, and actually from the South!

so ya think ANYONE on 50's sitcoms ever made "love" and it was clear to the audience ?

On 50s sitcoms making love had a first base meaning, not a home run.

I liked Peggy the best of Andy’s girlfriends but read somewhere Mrs. Griffith wanted Joanna Moore gone as she was a bit too sexy to have around. Wonder what happened to the one time episode with Karen? Sorry this is LITB not TAGS .

Joanna Moore got pregnant and couldn’t do the show for a while.

Didn't know that. I've always liked Elinor Donahue, but yes, Joanna was best.

I saw Miss Corsaut (can’t think of first name) on a Columbo episode but small part with Grampa Walton.

I don't have any problem with Aneta Corsaut as an actress. I just don't like how they had her play the Helen part. Constantly jealous and guarding "her man" as if he's about to elope with another woman.
