It depends on whose version you want to believe. In the book, " Come and Knock On Our Door" quotes from Joyce say ABC was in the middle of negotiations with Lindley and Fell for The Ropers. Prior to this they just completed a new contract with Joyce in which she got a raise. But ABC tried to take her raise away due to being strapped for cash. Another view was Joyce was calling in sick as a ploy to get a raise. Either way, it was settled but by then it was too late to insert Joyce. As the episode was re-worked for Anne and was ready for taping.

Probably because Linda was only there a few days. What are they going to do? Charge her by the day like a hotel?? :lol:

It was clear they was scrambling around because that episode made no sense at all. lol
