Time to restore my old "dirt bike." The date code on the frame shows a build date of August, 1969 but I didn't build the bike until about 1974. (A neighborhood kid gave me the frame for free back then and I added the parts.) I rode this bike to high school and an undeveloped area of Porter Ranch, just hills and dirt roads there back then.

There is rust on the bike but not as bad as I thought. It will look as it was in the first photo. The other photo show how it currently looks. It will be fun to ride again when done!

My brother had one. I think it had a sissy bar on it too. They are cool bikes. Wish we never got rid of it.

They were very popular. When out biking on my reproduction blue Stingray, quite a few people say they had a bike like that.

The Stingray was first introduced in 1963. 45,000 were sold the last half of that year! And 2 million produced by 1968.

Update: the Stingray is not done but I am able to ride it. Did my first daytime ride with it on Thursday (June 11).

It felt great; has a solid feel to it, more so than my 2019 reproduction Stingray.

Here are both bikes side by side. 2019 on the left and 1969 on the right.

I did a video of me riding it for the first time since about the year 2000.
