Starting today, viewers can watch old Simpsons episodes in the classic 4:3 aspect ratio or the remastered 16:9 widescreen format. What took so long to make the change? Disney+'s engineers had to build a brand-new feature that would allow viewers to toggle between different video attributes. “We needed to challenge prior assumptions and rethink how content for streaming is packaged and delivered,” said Joe Rice, vice president of media product for Disney Streaming Services.
