The show slid into the toilet during the "Over Our Head" era.

Much like Mrs. Garrett said in season 1, "Delicately put, Hoagie."

But that's not an unpopular opinion. A lot of discussion around here reflects that.

The change of character's personality: BLAIR started out as the 'rebellious/trouble maker' who would run off with boys, as well as smoke cigarettes. She was also a painter and played the guitar. After the retool, they transformed her into a 'rich/snobbish' girl, and she was never again seeing smoking or playing an instrument.

The reduction of the cast was another thing that bugged me: they let go 4 talented actresses, start bringing up new characters (such as urchin Andy among other ones), MRS G left, and by the end EVERYONE turned into a POD!!!!!

Maybe not here but for most fans this would be: season 1 is the best season

That was just in the backdoor pilot that Blair smoked cigarettes and played the guitar. She never smoked cigarettes or played a guitar in any Facts of Life episode.

Jo did not save the Facts of Life. The show was hitting the mid 20s of all shows in the ratings in the summer before Jo arrived and that was pretty well where it sat during it's entire run.

JO did NOT save the show (only the Jo wanna be fun club thinks so!): having MRS G, BLAIR, NAT, TOOTIE and JO all together made the show and NOT just one person!!!:cheers::cheers::cheers:

I think Lisa should have kept her Season 1 natural sandy hair color. When she went bleached blonde it was never consistent. Sometimes the dye jobs were not the best and varied in shades.

I like Beverly Ann, Andy, Pippa, and George.

I feel that Beverly Ann was needed because she took over running the store for Mrs. Garret. She also was the landlady for the girls. Beverly Ann being there felt like a part of Mrs. Garrett was still looking out for the girls through her sister. I thought it was sweet. Ms. Garret was like a mother, but I felt that Beverly Ann was more like their aunt or older sister. The girls were adults, but they were still young and could still use some guidance. Plus, Tootie was still a teenager.

The girls looked their best in season 9.

I like softer, girly Jo.

Seasons 7, 8, and 9 are my favorites.

I like Beverly Ann and Mrs. Garrett as sisters. They are both adorable.

The show was good from the beginning to the ending.

There was an episode recently I watched where Lisa's hair was so blond it was nearly yellow! It was the only time I saw it like that so whatever they did to her in the makeup room, was corrected soon after.

It had to be a late season 8 or early season 9 episode because I know I saw it recently and she was wearing a bright yellow shirt that only made her hair look even more yellow. It was NOT a good look on her!...Now I need to fish for that picture. :mumble:

I really like your opinion about BEVERLY ANN, and i never quite saw it that way: you're right, the girls weren't fully adults yet (TOOTIE was 18, NAT 19 and the other two were barely 22, more like students or young adults) so it makes sense they'll still need some guidance, or at least someone older to seek for advice when necessary yep!!!!:ducky::ducky::ducky:

I cannot believe you prefer the later seasons over the earlier though: season 7 and 9 (8 is better i was told) lacked the DEPTH all the earlier seasons had, and especially if you like MRS G, you'll notice that she turned into a real POD during the whole season 7!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Most of season 7 and 9 had people turned into PODS everywhere!!!

You're right, Beverly Ann did have more of that eccentric "aunt" feel. Which makes sense, since she was Mrs. Garrett's sister (and a very cool continuity factor is the fact that she existed as early as 1978, on "Diff'rent Strokes" when Mrs. Garrett makes plans to visit her in a DS episode that's a crossover with "Hello, Larry" characters).

And yes, someone did need to be there to mind the store and the house. So if you can't have Mrs. Garrett, might as well get her sister that's already on the canvas. It was also nice how they kept her alive by using her name.

I actually liked Kelly and Bootz and wished they lasted longer on the show.

I'm not that crazy about the Jo/Blair duo. They can be funny but they were frenemies AT MOST and don't understand why most of the fanfics is centered around them and not other characters.

I know exactly what you mean: i write on the Fanfiction site too, but my stories are rather about the WHOLE FOL CHARACTERS (from the 'Lost girls' with the 'Core of 4').
I don't post any femslash at all on BLAIR/JO (unlike most of the stories people post on the site).

I also would have loved if they'd kept KELLY and BOOTSIE: those 2 were great adds to the show lol!!!!!
