What's your order of housekeepers from favorite to least favorite? Cast your ballot in the polls and see how it looks! :)

Mrs. Edna Garrett - seasons 1 & 2
Adelaide Brubaker - seasons 2, 3, 4
Pearl Gallagher - seasons 5, 6, 7, 8

(and while we're on the subject, isn't interesting that they called Mrs. Garrett the formal "Mrs. Garrett", yet called the others simply "Adelaide" and "Pearl".

And I voted Mrs. Garrett, Adelaide, Pearl.

I forgot until I binged DS as an adult just how much I enjoyed Adelaide! She reminds me some of my grandmother, who herself is only about 5 foot 1 (Nedra Volz who played Adelaide was 4 foot 11).

One thing a bit ironic is Mrs. Garrett was there the shortest amount of time, close to a year and a half, and had 2 episodes about her. Pearl was there for 4 seasons and never had any episodes about her.

I voted for GAP, in that order, too! I do wish Pearl had had her own episode. That would have been a nice gesture for someone on the show for four seasons!

Right? I saw one the other night in season 6 where she was the pivotal "clincher" at the end, but that is too bad for Mary Jo and Pearl that Pearl never had an episode of her own main story.

I thought Edna was a little weird was she was on DS (same with her first year on FOL).

Every time I saw Pearl, I thought of the Roach Motel lady: “Roaches check in, but they don’t check out!”

I liked Adelaide the best. I’ve always liked Nedra Volz, and she was also the housekeeper when I first saw DS.

Yeah, looking in the mirror and singing "Oh, you big beautiful doll" and then barking like a dog is a tad weird.

I voted Adelaide , Pearl, Mrs. Garrett

I also voted Adelaide, Pearl, Mrs. Garrett.

Adelaide was so sweet and adorable. Pearl was kind and efficent, Mrs. Garrett seemed like a bit of a harpie at times and her voice grated on me.

I don't think it was meant to be real barking like a dog, lol. I just always took is as her being silly.

Actually met Dana and her mom when she was 14 or 15 years old, down in Miami Florida at the Fountain Blue Hotel..

Those two shots were actually taken the same day... I was with Dana at KTLA where they filmed Diff'rent Strokes, right next door to the Facts of Life set... so we dropped in to see them....

I also took this shot with Arnold that same day....

Mrs. Garrett is my favorite. She felt more like family or a mother to Arnold, Willis, and Kimberly. I felt like she was Mr. Drummond's equal.

I like Pearl and Adelaide equally. But I thought it was pretty cool that Arnold, Willis, and Kimberly had both Mrs. Garrett and Mr. Drummond.

Exactly! Mrs. Garrett was the older female adult in the penthouse. After her departure, the show never filled that role. While I think of Mrs. Garrett as a mother and a big part of the family, the other housekeepers were just there.

Really good pictures. I think these photos were taken during late 1980, early 1981, right? Mrs. Garrett has her season 2 look.
Did Dana ever talked about/with Charlotte Rae when you were on set?

Going just on what they added to Diff'rent Strokes: Adelaide, Mrs. Garrett, Pearl. But when you include The Facts of Life, Mrs. Garrett rises to the top. I did not like Pearl at all, what a useless character. It is too bad Nedra Volz couldn't have been made a regular instead of Mary Jo Catlett.

Yep, she was great in that Alice episode. She said she could only charge 1.50 each for the pies if she stole the ingredients from Mel's store room! And her boy, Junior who was in the army stationed in NJ was in the army for over 30 years!

Pearl was very cold, too stern for my taste.

I just rewatched the episode where she was first introduced to us. My goodness, she was arrogant and rude when meeting Mr. D

Sure, Pearl warmed up a bit, but never to the level of Mrs. G and Adelaide. Pearl was just a housekeeper and not much else.

At first I stated Ms. Garret, but I've been looking at the episodes and now I think I liked the housekeepers equally. They were all great.
