The only thing I can agree with is that Kelly is a lot worse and the most hateful character that's ever came on FOL.

In my opinion though, this Pippa girl is a few years too late to the party. At this point in the show there's no need to shove a young teen girl into the mix when you have a main cast of 20 year old women now. It feels like regressing. I know Andy needed a playmate to lesson his growing creep factor since he was aging, but it only detracts from the Core Four who should be the main focus.

Anyway, valentina will be happy to have company now! :lol::wave:

OMG that kangaroo is only 5 months younger than me!! So she was 17 years old when she began and was playing a 15 year old. Hmm.

They should've went the other way and slutted her look up a bit to have her be a Langley freshman instead to be more compatible with the girls. Bringing on an Eastland girl at this point seemed like a step back.

But I guess they probably had plans to use her in the Eastland spin off that never came to be? :confused:

Someone said in a Facts of Life Facebook group that the Core Four objected when Sherrie got lots of lines in an episode (Bad Girls in Trouble).

Nancy suggested a special episode where Pimppa was beheaded in a workplace accident at Over Our Heads. And that was going to be the reason they closed the store.

Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed.

I think the original plan, based on seeing Pippa's first episode, was that she was going to be a lot of trouble for the girls. Hence the whole 'I'm Franny, well, really I'm not. I'm headed home with my dad. No, I'm actually running back to these strangers at 3 AM' business.

I think if the spin-off had been green-lit, we would have seen Pippa grow into a real character, maybe like Jo, or the rebel version of Blair. But with there being "ten, twelve characters" on the show by Season 9, her character development faltered. She became more Nancy Olsen than Nancy McKeon: there to walk in, deliver an Australianism, and then exits Stage Left.

And her voice was so weak and quiet and breathy! Why on earth they ever chose her to appear on television I have no idea (saying nothing of being the lead singer in a girl* rock band).

This ^^^^^ She wasn't a needed character in the show. After she entered the show, she was portrayed as a nuisance for the core four. Each time Pippa tried to connect with the girls, they shunned her. If they had wrote Pippa's character as being mentored by the core four like Mrs. Garrett did with them in the early seasons, maybe I would feel differently about Pippa. However, they wrote Pippa as a character that was in the way. I didn't see why she was there or why the writers would make the core four that selfish. The addition of Pippa was pointless IMO.

In the episode, The First Time (one of the episodes the girls shun Pippa), Pippa asks Beverly Ann if she discovers Roger is her true love would it be ok to have sex. She did have a boyfriend, or a boy she was interested in, that was named Roger.

You are right. I've mentioned this before. Molly, Laura, and Jennifer were just played by... Molly, Laura, and Jennifer. The names Emily and Steve(n) were reused countless times. And now reusing Roger? :lol:

I know Kelly was surprisingly on something I watched recently and she was good. I didn't recognize her, but I recognized her name. I'm too tired to look it up on IMDB at the moment. It may have been American Horror Story since I binged it in quarantine.

It's a shame they never had a season 10: i would have loved to see BLAIR interact more with the 'Eastland' girls as the new headmistress!!!! (she would have done a wonderful job at counselling them, after having had MRS G as a role model for so many years).....

I didn't hate her but I agree with the commentary on here that she unnecessary and a nuisance in the show. She was like the "Cousin Oliver" of The Facts of Life. Getting into trouble and causing havoc for the girls. Case in point, the episode "Present Imperfect," where she and Andy throw a party, which then causes Jeff's grandmother's heirloom to somehow end up in a blender, and then Tootie crushing it in the blender. Sure, it was partly Andy's fault, but still... she was supposed to take care of it and she was wearing it the whole time.

I just watched the last season episodes and it was clear it's best days were behind it. And anytime they add a younger character you know the show is heading downhill. But I didn't have a huge problem with actual character. The girl was likable enough but it's painfully obvious they made her Australian to jump on the Crocodile Dundee bandwagon. That movie was big at the time. And then after introducing her they didn't seem to know what to do with her.

Yeah, that last season or so was pretty messy. You mentioned the Aussie bandwagon, but it was like they were trying to jump on every possible bandwagon: Pop stars! Spencer's! Australia! They just couldn't figure out what the show was even about anymore, so the show embraced nearly every 1980s fad.
