...with an "absurd" finale

In celebrating the Season 5 renewal, The Good Fight creators Robert and Michelle King expressed disappointment that Season 4 will end three episodes early, on May 28. Those three episodes will not be filmed because of the coronavirus shutdown. “It’s been weird to not be able to finish the fourth season,” acknowledged the Kings in a statement. “It left the story in even more absurd a place than usual. So we’re thrilled that CBS All Access wants to bring The Good Fight back for an additional season, and we know what story we’re planning to tell. It’s like getting the answers to the SAT ahead of time.”

Sure. People are paying for it. Why not give them less?

The Good Fight creators react to inadvertently ending their shortened Season 4 with a Jeffrey Epstein episode (https://variety.com/2020/tv/features/the-good-fight-season-4-finale-jeffrey-epstein-memo-618-spoilers-1234617882/)

“Even though it’s not the way we hoped to end the season, ending on Epstein is a very good representation of what Memo 618 as a metaphor does for powerful people: They are somehow given a pass," co-creator Robert King says of the Season 4 finale, titled: “The Gang Discovers Who Killed Jeffrey Epstein." ALSO: Christine Baranski doesn't know how Season 4 was supposed to end, says Epstein episode is "so outrageous!" The Good Fight's "bananas" Jeffrey Epstein-themed season finale ending is "one of the ballsiest moves in TV history" (https://slate.com/culture/2020/05/good-fight-finale-jeffrey-epstein-episode-final-shot.html)

"Even for The Good Fight, which has featured couples copulating in Trump masks and devoted part of an episode to an extended riff on Slave Play, it’s an audacious ending—audacious enough to overwhelm, at least for a bit, all the plot threads left dangling by the COVID-truncated season," says Sam Adams of the abrupt Season 7 finale, titled “The Gang Discovers Who Killed Jeffrey Epstein." Adams adds: "Like a lot of TV shows, The Good Fight was forced to cut its season short by the abrupt halt in production caused by the coronavirus pandemic. But the series still found a way to go out with a hell of a bang." ALSO: Good Fight composer David Buckley hasn't watched Game of Thrones, but he had the HBO drama in mind in composing the nearly two-minute title sequence (https://ew.com/tv/the-good-fight-david-buckley-main-title-music/).
