Wow! Eastland has a pool! And a swim team!

Only, the pool and swim team are never mentioned on FOL. But in the DS season 5 episode "In the Swim", the 2nd episode for the 1982-1983 season, Kimberly leaves Eastland to go to Willis and Charlene's public school. She tells the student body president of the public school that she was on the swim team "at my old school" (with all the talk of her changing schools in this episode, no one ever says "Eastland" by name).

And Kimberly must have really been influenced by her friends Cindy and Molly, as she's an avid athletic swimmer like Cindy, and she gets steamed over chauvinistic "boys only" swimming at the school and crashes the swim team auditions and demands to be allowed!

It's too bad Eastland's pool or swim team were never mentioned on FOL. It would have been great if Cindy or Nancy or Sue Ann* had been a swimmer!

*(Sue Ann does like to try everything, lol)

And if cfr or Christopher read this, the chauvinist student body jerk was named "Christopher"!

I can definitely see Sue Ann trying out for the team. I'm not sure that Cindy, who loved baseball and tennis, would be a good swimmer, but she sure was athletic, so it's a possibility. I definitely see either one beating Terry, who didn't have a swimmer's build.

I have seen quite a few episodes of DS where Kimberly takes on chauvinism. Molly indeed taught her well!

You just Nancied Nancy! 😆

I mean, even though she's not swimmer's build either, it's just funny you didn't comment on her from my quote at all, thereby Nancying her.

I think Nancy O. would have been a good swimmer. She was tall and lanky. She also was a ballet dancer. OK, we are not sure if Nancy O. was a ballet dancer, but Felice was and since the two share so much in common, I am sure Nancy O. took up ballet. That would explain her love for Baryshnikov.

Maybe that was the Eastland swim coach in the red shirt watching the girl frolicking in the lawn in the opening credits.

Exactly, I too thought of "ballet dancer" when I was thinking of her body type. She would seem more than than a swimmer to me.

Since Eastland's faculty seem to multi task, I think I know who the swim coach is.

Wouldn't that much hair weigh her down in the water, during coaching demonstrations?

"Please don't ask me to get in the water. I'll sink like a rock with this much hair. Over half my of head is hair!"

She would need help to put on swim cap over that hair.
