As the soaps come close to ending "new" episodes due to being shut down productions......ABC's "GH" has cleverly been stretching out their episodes with giant clip montages, plus their so far excellent selection of "Flashback Fridays" episodes with new at home actors introductions.
Now I know CBS is doing "theme weeks", etc........there are many ideas but I thought of one for General Hospital that would be brand new to Network TV.
SoapNet when alive, produced an original spin-off weekly series called "General Hospital: Nightshift" using the same actors at the time, but were more cohesive in the two seasons produced, I believe 26 episodes in total......
The first season was actually released on DVD, for me season 2 was much better as it dealt with Robert Scorpio and his cancer battle. Some of Tristan Rogers best work.
Since SoapNet had a very small carriage level, most GH fans have never seen the cable only spinoff....with 26 episodes this would leave them with brand new mostly hardly seen, certainly never on ABC 5 weeks and one day of a alternate plan before total reruns set in.......
In my opinion with the taping schedule, including editing, etc.....we won't see new episodes of GH till September 2020 once they run out.
I also thought of "Port Charles" spin-off, but that was only a half hour, and believe would really confuse viewers, but "GH: Nightshift" would be intriguing.
