View Full Version : Summer Of MeTV 2020 Schedule- Any Changes Coming? Old School 05-01-2020, 08:55 AM Summer of MeTV 2020 schedule: Any ideas, information what changes will be made to the lineup and when they will be made? Svenfan1234 05-01-2020, 10:37 AM I'd be very surprised if they made any changes at all. MeTV just doesn't do many changes anymore, sadly. Merry24 05-01-2020, 10:41 AM I could be wrong but this summer might be the summer of MAYberry AMackII 05-01-2020, 12:43 PM Not Yet; Usually Summer of Me starts in late May every year but I think The Month of MAYberry will not be impacted by it. TV Guy 05-02-2020, 10:07 AM As long as they keep MASH on at 7, and Hogan’s Heroes on at 10. MA 05-02-2020, 11:58 AM I won't be surprised if The Month Of Mayberry serves as the summer schedule. snowpeck 05-05-2020, 02:39 AM Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mama's Family, and The Powers of Matthew Star return to the schedule. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1xvLuF8phshDoKvWvV_grW3i4xDIVaBnI MikeLutton 05-05-2020, 05:59 AM Happy days returns about time thanks MA 05-05-2020, 06:23 AM Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mama's Family, and The Powers of Matthew Star return to the schedule. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1xvLuF8phshDoKvWvV_grW3i4xDIVaBnI Thank you for that information. Merry24 05-05-2020, 07:46 AM Glad to see My Three Sons Returning in June 2020. I’m surprised Gillgan’s Island is leaving especially during the Summer. Disappointed they aren’t returning The Monkee’s. I don’t understand the Sunday schedule of 2pm-3pm Happy Day (I understand) 3pm-4pm Laverne & Shirley (I understand) 4pm-5pm Happy Days (I’m confused) MA 05-05-2020, 07:49 AM I forgot that My Three Sons was off the schedule. MikeLutton 05-05-2020, 08:13 AM after the 2nd airing of happy days it going be Mama's family MA 05-05-2020, 08:14 AM after the 2nd airing of happy days it going be Mama's family What will be after the first airing? MA 05-05-2020, 10:25 AM 2:00pm Happy days 3:00pm Laverne & Shirley 4:00pm Happy Days 5:00pm Mama's Family Thank you. BigManMike 05-05-2020, 10:34 AM Of course the same lame prime time schedule with MASH and Hogan’s Heroes stays. Wish they could have put Happy Days in place of one of the Hogan’s Heroes instead of taking away one of the Flintstones. MA 05-05-2020, 10:49 AM So The Flintstones is one of the shows that will be removed. At least one of the episodes will still be kept. MikeLutton 05-05-2020, 10:53 AM or Put Happy days in place of one of the AGS Have Opie Richie Cunningham hour MA 05-05-2020, 10:54 AM That's a good idea. Wish they could have put Happy Days in place of one of the Hogan’s Heroes instead of taking away one of the Flintstones. The MASH, Andy Griffith and Hogan's Heroes weekday night time line up is played out...and I really like all 3 shows, or used to. In The Heat Of The Night, Matlock & Perry Mason should be shown in the evening flipping times slots with their current weekday night time schedule in my mind. I don't know If MeTV has their tv show rights but Happy Days, Lavern & Shirley, Mork 'n Mindy, Cheers, Night Court, Taxi, Quincy ME are some shows that they should consider adding for their weekday night time line up. He said he has heard all the complaints about Hogan Heroes and Mash. In fact he said if he never saw another Hogan Heroes show again that would be fine with him. But both these shows do very well in the ratings in these times lots. He says if you see several of their shows for long periods of time in the same time slot, then they are killing it in the ratings. Old School 05-05-2020, 09:04 PM I just like it when they mix it up a bit and bring back shows they haven't aired in awhile Exactly! I used to really like MeTV a lot in the begging because they mixed their schedule up at the beginning of Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer each year. But as time has gone by they seem to get stuck with certain shows at certain time slots and even then they don't show all of the series episodes so they just repeat every few months...seeing the very same episodes time after time after time again.:violin: MikeLutton 05-05-2020, 09:04 PM i really want Decades back i miss that channell it true what they say u never know how good something i s until it's gone Old School 05-05-2020, 09:05 PM I wish that they would get rid of the Westerns, MASH, and Hogan’s Heroes. I agree... BigManMike 05-05-2020, 09:51 PM And even though I like Andy Griffith I don’t care for the way they show it by splitting the black and white episodes and color episodes at different times. They should just show them all continuously. And it has been in the same spot too long as well. It’s still a great show but it would be nice to see it move to a different spot. Merry24 05-05-2020, 09:58 PM What might help is going back to how Me TV was before it went national have Me TV air exclusive to Sitcoms and have Me TV Too just air dramas/westerns/sci-fi. Duster76 05-05-2020, 10:13 PM I wish that they would get rid of the Westerns, MASH, and Hogan’s Heroes. I am no Hogan's Heroes fan, all the episodes are the same, I can't tell one from another. That said, it never ceases to amaze me how popular that show actually is. Next to Andy Griffith I think it is the most popular series of the 1960's. You may not like the Westerns, but they help pay the bills. With respect to MASH after season 6, boy does that show go way down. I thought it would turn into an Andy Griffith type rerun with the first 5 (maybe 6) seasons being the episodes rerun with the rest put into storage like the final 3 seasons of TAGS. So, Hogan and Mash stay put long-term. The last time someone posted ratings MeTV was even beating TV Land. Thus, you see TV Land's morning TAGS place-held in TV Guide each week, and changed to color episodes. Why? IMO in response to MeTVs Mayberry May stunt, which is also showing the color episodes. Thank you for the link. Merry24 05-07-2020, 12:55 AM Wow! Thank you for posting that podcast! That was very, very interesting! Sounds like The Flintstones was a perfect pick up for them. The reason why Perry Mason on at 11:30pm Weeknights was explained. That was odd to think that Gomer Pyle & Green Acres out performance The Mary Tyler Moore Show & The Bob Newhart Show. Its also nice to know that Me TV will air these shows during A Very Merry Me TV or whenever they can. In addition now we know MASH & Andy Griffith Show & Hogan’s Heroes & Svengoolie & Columbo & Saturday Westerns are Me TV’s top shows! lol! I’m glad they touched based on Collectors Call as well. It sounds like the people at Me TV will never follow nick@niTe or TVLAND’s abandament. If they do add a newer show it will be one that goes with the Me TV formula. Thanks again for posting I found this podcast informative and interesting and actually will make me think before I make a Suggestion to Me TV! SitcomsHeydayfan 05-08-2020, 12:19 AM Shame to see Gilligan's Island leave. I know! That sucks! They show some pretty awful shows so take those off instead! Thanks again for posting I found this podcast informative and interesting and actually will make me think before I make a Suggestion to Me TV! The fact that he took time to addressed the Hogans's Heroes issue, probably means that they have received quiet a few complaints about the stupid show. They should take Hogans's Heroes down to one show each night through the week and start testing other classic shows in either the 10 or 10:30pm timeslot. For instance, why not try out a show like Newhart in the 10:30 slot? Charley Knox 05-08-2020, 01:08 AM Glad to see My Three Sons Returning in June 2020. I’m surprised Gillgan’s Island is leaving especially during the Summer. Disappointed they aren’t returning The Monkee’s. I don’t understand the Sunday schedule of 2pm-3pm Happy Day (I understand) 3pm-4pm Laverne & Shirley (I understand) 4pm-5pm Happy Days (I’m confused) A better idea would be to move Mamas Family to the 4p.m. slot and add the Waltons at 5:00pm. treky 05-08-2020, 02:41 AM I don't mind HH so much but they REALLY need to give MASH a break-either that or just show 1 episode a week; on Sunday afternoons. Merry24 05-08-2020, 09:55 AM I could be wrong but it looks like Laverne & Shirley only does well if Happy Days airs before and after Laverne & Shirley. Yes!!! I agree! I would love to see them change up the WeekNights 10pm or 10:30pm but if they change it may effect the 9:30pm Green Acres ratings or the 10:30pm Hogan’s Heroes rating or the 10pm Hogan’s Heroes rating and the 11pm Carol Burnett rating. Same with MASH it could effect the 6:30pm Happy Days rating or the 7:30pm MASH rating or the 7pm MASH rating and the 8pm Andy Griffith rating. There kinda stuck in between a rock in a hard place. It sounds like he loves Cheers and I Love Lucy but they don’t pull in the numbers as MASH or Andy Griffith Gomer Pyle Green Acres or Hogan’s Heroes or Carol Burnett or Perry Mason or Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock or Svengoolie or Columbo although if something starts to deteriorate than changes can happen cause I do remember even them airring Cheers Sunday’s but MASH does the best there. I do remember Sunday’s they had Me TV Loves Lucy block apparently it wasn’t loved by the ratings, other shows must do better there. MA 05-08-2020, 10:13 AM Is Collector's call coming back? That's a pretty good show. Plus it doesn't hurt to see Lisa Welchel. They will probably temporarily take it off when they switch over to the 2hr long Colombo episodes. Charley Knox 05-08-2020, 11:16 AM I'm still seeing Collector's Call on the schedule. I think they still have 9 or 10 90 min episodes to go before the switch. They will probably switch over to airing the 2hr episodes in July. BigManMike 05-08-2020, 11:36 AM It’s a shame Facts of Life had to move to Antenna. They’re still airing Lisa’s show Collector’s Call so it would have been nice to pair FOL with it. MA 05-08-2020, 11:39 AM I think they still have 9 or 10 90 min episodes to go before the switch. They will probably switch over to airing the 2hr episodes in July. Thank you. I also noticed on the schedule that The Twilight Zone along with The Alfred Hitchcock Hour are returning. BigManMike 05-08-2020, 11:40 AM I could be wrong but it looks like Laverne & Shirley only does well if Happy Days airs before and after Laverne & Shirley. Yes!!! I agree! I do remember Sunday’s they had Me TV Loves Lucy block apparently it wasn’t loved by the ratings, other shows must do better there. Yes I find it strange they have two episodes of Laverne and Shirley sandwiches in between two episodes of Happy Days on either side. Seems it would have made more sense to just show four episodes of Happy Days together and then two episodes of Laverne and Shirley. I find it hard to believe I Love Lucy didn’t do well in the ratings. I have no idea how Hogan’s Heroes could be more popular then I Love Lucy. That makes no sense at all. I also wish they would show more My Three Sons. For a show that lasted 12 seasons and had 384 episodes, 5 episodes a week doesn’t cut it. It definitely needs more showings. MA 05-08-2020, 11:46 AM I find it strange that MeTV's website and their social media pages don’t mention the new schedule at all. Merry24 05-08-2020, 12:50 PM Yes sometimes I don’t understand there numbers. I Love Lucy can air on CBS in today’s times and do well but on Me TV can only get a 6:30AM if that time slot? My Three Sons and The Donna Reed Show these shows so popular on NICK at NITE and is what started all these classic TV Channels yet now barely can air and only in the early Mornings? Leave It To Beaver that has seen much success on TVLand and Antenna TV yet can’t even get this show out of the Morning slot makes things look questionable. I think the reason the Summer Schedule hasn’t shown up on there sites is because they are still promoting MAYberry month. MA 05-08-2020, 12:59 PM Yes sometimes I don’t understand there numbers. I really enjoyed watching it last Sunday ! ;):) Merry24 05-08-2020, 02:07 PM No this Sunday The Love Boat will be airring. Although Mayberry RFD is airring Monday’s-Friday’s at 7AM in the month of May 2020. Duster76 05-08-2020, 02:59 PM I thought the interview with Sabin was excellent, it's clear the network programs hit shows that pull in solid audience numbers. If a show is working in a timeslot it's staying. I don't know how anyone can argue with that. Poster Charley Knox mentioned Newhart, that particular series has not performed well in syndication. Mary Tyler Moore and The Bob Newhart Show fall into the same category. How long was WKRP on, that's another series that seems to wear out it's welcome in a relatively short period of time. What is unfortunate is that a classic TV network programmed in the vein as TCM was never developed when cable tv was growing in the 90's (it's probably too late now). Something like that would have been able to address hit series and everything in between (and restore the series when available to the original unedited product). BigManMike 05-08-2020, 03:06 PM Interesting that Mary Tyler Moore and both Newhart shows are on sister network Decades. I really hate that I lost Decades because it has some good shows. It also has The Jeffersons which is a favorite of mine that used to be on MeTV. Charley Knox 05-08-2020, 04:16 PM Yes sometimes I don’t understand there numbers. I think the reason the Summer Schedule hasn’t shown up on there sites is because they are still promoting MAYberry month. CBS airs I Love Lucy in digital color during the hollidays. I wonder could the show find a dedicated primetime audience if METV started including the digital color episodes in the syndication package? Even the poorly Turner crayon colored first season of Gilligan 's island must be preferred by the average audience over the original b&w film. Another idea, would be follow an episode of My Three Sons after I Love Lucy to build synergy off the former, since both shows featured William Frawley. Just a personal belief certain shows that share something in common can be combined programmed and reach a targeted audience. Too bad, I don't have means to prove my theory. Charley Knox 05-08-2020, 04:27 PM What is unfortunate is that a classic TV network programmed in the vein as TCM was never developed when cable tv was growing in the 90's (it's probably too late now). Something like that would have been able to address hit series and everything in between (and restore the series when available to the original unedited product). Unlike classic film, there was no Robert Osborne (RIP) with clout to help championed the cause. Classic TV has always been looked down upon by a lot of overly snooty film critics. So as a sad reult, a lot of classic TV has nearly faded into oblivion. SledgeBarone 05-08-2020, 05:19 PM https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/classic-tv-film-celebrating-golden-age-television-movies/id1440330557 The name of the President is Neal Sabin, the interview is from 2/11/20, he has some interesting comments at the end about The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart show and Cheers. Thanks, that was a good listen. Years ago, I would see TV listings showing MeTV playing these types of shows during prime time. I was jealous, since the station was broadcast on a neighboring area's TV station subchannel that was close enough to appear in the paper but too far to pick up on my antenna. Now that MeTV is on a station I can finally pick up, it's disappointing that they don't play those shows anymore. BTW, what is it about Hogan's Heroes and MASH that still brings in the viewers? Is it the wartime setting? SledgeBarone 05-08-2020, 05:24 PM I’m surprised Gillgan’s Island is leaving especially during the Summer. I'm guessing MeTV lost the rights to Gilligan's Island. If it were doing poorly, it never would gotten a weekly 3-hour block to begin with. If there were a recent decline, I'd think they would've just reduced it to 1-2 episodes a week. Svenfan1234 05-08-2020, 05:53 PM MeTV needs to give Svengoolie an extra half hour or hour occasionally so he can air movies that are longer like Jason and the Argonauts, Mysterious Island, First Men in the Moon and The Birds IMO. Those would all be nice to see. Bonniegirl 05-08-2020, 07:01 PM I'm guessing MeTV lost the rights to Gilligan's Island. If it were doing poorly, it never would gotten a weekly 3-hour block to begin with. If there were a recent decline, I'd think they would've just reduced it to 1-2 episodes a week. Yeah, that is what I said on another thread. It would be cool if they kept Gilligan on Sundays for 1 or 2 eps. !! ;) favoriteshow 05-08-2020, 11:25 PM Interesting that Mary Tyler Moore and both Newhart shows are on sister network Decades. I really hate that I lost Decades because it has some good shows. It also has The Jeffersons which is a favorite of mine that used to be on MeTV. A lot of people lost Decades and one has to be lucky to get it. But, some of its most popular shows can be seen elsewhere: I Love Lucy-Hulu subscription, CBS All Access subscription, Hallmark channel cable network. Mary Tyler Moore-Hulu subscription Bob Newhart Show-Hulu subscription Dick Van Dyke-Hulu subscription The Jeffersons-Starz! subscription, TV One cable network. The newer Newhart series though is somewhat exclusive to Decades. (Not found really elsewhere, except through DVD purchase through Shout Factory) I find it odd Decades programs The Jeffersons after Newhart, when Newhart is a newer show, and the daytime theme is start with old decade and move current. Also, it kind of stops with Newhart as the latest decade content, but could program content from the 90's and 00's (even though this content is well represented elsewhere). Probably not as popular: Lucy Show-public domain? (seen it listed on several streaming apps, but not as popular as I Love Lucy) Petticoat Junction-public domain possibly. Also seen it listed on Stirrd and other free apps Family Affair-Amazon/IMDB Donna Reed Show-Amazon (seasons 1-5 only) Crusinforabrusin2.5 05-09-2020, 05:56 AM Hogan's Heroes should get the boot. Awful show Duster76 05-09-2020, 02:05 PM Thanks, that was a good listen. I guess I understand the popularity of MASH more than Hogan's Heroes, at least MASH gave the audience a variety of story experiences. Hogan's Heroes is the same thing over and over. I don't know how anyone can stand it. I suppose there's an answer in the description I've given. The series gives the viewer the ultimate predictable experience, it's not complicated, if you like the characters you can tune in at any time, any season and get what you came for. As they say, for those who get it, no explanation is necessary, for those who don't, no explanation will ever be good enough. MASH just gets ridiculous after season 6, I mean the cast is way to old to play these characters, and the war lasted three years! To deal specifically with your question, the wartime setting may indeed be part of the attraction, the characters are forced to interact and create their own society to deal with the circumstance they are in. One final note, beginning at 7pm and extending to 5am the entire METV line-up is made up of programming that ran on the CBS network (Hitchcock spent a couple of years on NBC at the end of the run of the half hour series and the final season of the hour long series). treky 05-10-2020, 01:49 AM I guess I understand the popularity of MASH more than Hogan's Heroes, at least MASH gave the audience a variety of story experiences. I mean Gilligan's Island is cool and funny but it's time for METV to be showing something different this summer and the new Summer Of Me lineup for this year will be great. You mentioned that a show named The Powers Of Matthew Star will be part of the new schedule. Actually, it wasn’t because of copyright issues. In some prints intended for reruns and overseas broadcasts, the original "Rock Around the Clock" opening theme is replaced by the more standard "Happy Days" theme. TV Guy 06-02-2020, 04:28 PM They don’t want to pay for it. The deal for that opening theme has likely expired and so it’s cheaper just to paste the second theme onto the older episodes. I wouldn’t even mind seeing some 90s and 00s African American shows on Me like Sister Sister, Moesha, The Parkers, and Everybody Hates Chris. Any of these would be better than that dreadful MASH and Hogan’s Heroes. I wouldn’t think it would be hard for Me to get the rights to those because they are owned by CBS Paramount and that’s where most of the shows on Me are from. And I hope the Jeffersons will return to Me’s schedule at some point. I can’t get Decades.
