Summer of MeTV 2020 schedule: Any ideas, information what changes will be made to the lineup and when they will be made?

I'd be very surprised if they made any changes at all. MeTV just doesn't do many changes anymore, sadly.

Not Yet; Usually Summer of Me starts in late May every year but I think The Month of MAYberry will not be impacted by it.

As long as they keep MASH on at 7, and Hogan’s Heroes on at 10. :lol:

Exactly! I used to really like MeTV a lot in the begging because they mixed their schedule up at the beginning of Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer each year.

But as time has gone by they seem to get stuck with certain shows at certain time slots and even then they don't show all of the series episodes so they just repeat every few months...seeing the very same episodes time after time after time again.:violin:

And even though I like Andy Griffith I don’t care for the way they show it by splitting the black and white episodes and color episodes at different times. They should just show them all continuously. And it has been in the same spot too long as well. It’s still a great show but it would be nice to see it move to a different spot.

What might help is going back to how Me TV was before it went national have Me TV air exclusive to Sitcoms and have Me TV Too just air dramas/westerns/sci-fi.

I didn't see the podcast but what he says makes sense. "If it ain't broke don't fix it." So, Hogan and Mash stay put long-term. The last time someone posted ratings MeTV was even beating TV Land. Thus, you see TV Land's morning TAGS place-held in TV Guide each week, and changed to color episodes. Why? IMO in response to MeTVs Mayberry May stunt, which is also showing the color episodes.

The reason why Perry Mason on at 11:30pm Weeknights was explained.That was odd to think that Gomer Pyle & Green Acres out performance The Mary Tyler Moore Show & The Bob Newhart Show. Its also nice to know that Me TV will air these shows during A Very Merry Me TV or whenever they can. In addition now we know MASH & Andy Griffith Show & Hogan’s Heroes & Svengoolie & Columbo & Saturday Westerns are Me TV’s top shows! lol! I’m glad they touched based on Collectors Call as well.

The fact that he took time to addressed the Hogans's Heroes issue, probably means that they have received quiet a few complaints about the stupid show.

They should take Hogans's Heroes down to one show each night through the week and start testing other classic shows in either the 10 or 10:30pm timeslot. For instance, why not try out a show like Newhart in the 10:30 slot?

A better idea would be to move Mamas Family to the 4p.m. slot and add the Waltons at 5:00pm.

I don't mind HH so much but they REALLY need to give MASH a break-either that or just show 1 episode a week; on Sunday afternoons.

I do remember Sunday’s they had Me TV Loves Lucy block apparently it wasn’t loved by the ratings, other shows must do better there.

It’s a shame Facts of Life had to move to Antenna. They’re still airing Lisa’s show Collector’s Call so it would have been nice to pair FOL with it.

Yes I find it strange they have two episodes of Laverne and Shirley sandwiches in between two episodes of Happy Days on either side. Seems it would have made more sense to just show four episodes of Happy Days together and then two episodes of Laverne and Shirley.

I find it hard to believe I Love Lucy didn’t do well in the ratings. I have no idea how Hogan’s Heroes could be more popular then I Love Lucy. That makes no sense at all.

I also wish they would show more My Three Sons. For a show that lasted 12 seasons and had 384 episodes, 5 episodes a week doesn’t cut it. It definitely needs more showings.

No this Sunday The Love Boat will be airring. Although Mayberry RFD is airring Monday’s-Friday’s at 7AM in the month of May 2020.

I thought the interview with Sabin was excellent, it's clear the network programs hit shows that pull in solid audience numbers. If a show is working in a timeslot it's staying. I don't know how anyone can argue with that. Poster Charley Knox mentioned Newhart, that particular series has not performed well in syndication. Mary Tyler Moore and The Bob Newhart Show fall into the same category. How long was WKRP on, that's another series that seems to wear out it's welcome in a relatively short period of time.

What is unfortunate is that a classic TV network programmed in the vein as TCM was never developed when cable tv was growing in the 90's (it's probably too late now). Something like that would have been able to address hit series and everything in between (and restore the series when available to the original unedited product).

CBS airs I Love Lucy in digital color during the hollidays. I wonder could the show find a dedicated primetime audience if METV started including the digital color episodes in the syndication package? Even the poorly Turner crayon colored first season of Gilligan 's island must be preferred by the average audience over the original b&w film.

Another idea, would be follow an episode of My Three Sons after I Love Lucy to build synergy off the former, since both shows featured William Frawley.

Unlike classic film, there was no Robert Osborne (RIP) with clout to help championed the cause. Classic TV has always been looked down upon by a lot of overly snooty film critics. So as a sad reult, a lot of classic TV has nearly faded into oblivion.

Thanks, that was a good listen. Years ago, I would see TV listings showing MeTV playing these types of shows during prime time. I was jealous, since the station was broadcast on a neighboring area's TV station subchannel that was close enough to appear in the paper but too far to pick up on my antenna. Now that MeTV is on a station I can finally pick up, it's disappointing that they don't play those shows anymore.

I'm guessing MeTV lost the rights to Gilligan's Island. If it were doing poorly, it never would gotten a weekly 3-hour block to begin with. If there were a recent decline, I'd think they would've just reduced it to 1-2 episodes a week.

MeTV needs to give Svengoolie an extra half hour or hour occasionally so he can air movies that are longer like Jason and the Argonauts, Mysterious Island, First Men in the Moon and The Birds IMO. Those would all be nice to see.

A lot of people lost Decades and one has to be lucky to get it. But, some of its most popular shows can be seen elsewhere:

The newer Newhart series though is somewhat exclusive to Decades. (Not found really elsewhere, except through DVD purchase through Shout Factory)

I find it odd Decades programs The Jeffersons after Newhart, when Newhart is a newer show, and the daytime theme is start with old decade and move current. Also, it kind of stops with Newhart as the latest decade content, but could program content from the 90's and 00's (even though this content is well represented elsewhere).

To deal specifically with your question, the wartime setting may indeed be part of the attraction, the characters are forced to interact and create their own society to deal with the circumstance they are in.

One final note, beginning at 7pm and extending to 5am the entire METV line-up is made up of programming that ran on the CBS network (Hitchcock spent a couple of years on NBC at the end of the run of the half hour series and the final season of the hour long series).

One final note, beginning at 7pm and extending to 5am the entire METV line-up is made up of programming that ran on the CBS network (Hitchcock spent a couple of years on NBC at the end of the run of the half hour series and the final season of the hour long series).that's because ME TV (and I assume DECADES) is partially owned by CBS.

I am disappointed that they didn't cut one hour of the Brady Bunch or at least one or two hours of Gilligan's Island when they did not have to eliminate that and still keep Gilligan's Island and the Monkees along with Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley
but I am not crazy about Mama's family I prefer the Jeffersons

I loved ALF on the weekends but I hate Saved by the Bell I also loved Gilligan's

Gilligan's Island is finally leaving METV? Thank goodness because whenever I started watching METV for the very first time last year it seemed that Gilligan's Island would always be on whenever Mom and I would watch METV. I mean Gilligan's Island is cool and funny but it's time for METV to be showing something different this summer and the new Summer Of Me lineup for this year will be great. You mentioned that a show named The Powers Of Matthew Star will be part of the new schedule. What is it because I have never seen The Powers Of Matthew Star before

Actually, it wasn’t because of copyright issues.

In some prints intended for reruns and overseas broadcasts, the original "Rock Around the Clock" opening theme is replaced by the more standard "Happy Days" theme.

They don’t want to pay for it. The deal for that opening theme has likely expired and so it’s cheaper just to paste the second theme onto the older episodes.

Seems odd MeTV started with Season 2 on weekdays but will be showing Season 1 on Sundays. It will be interesting to see if Season 1 has the original theme or if it also gets changed on it.

MeTV currently has zero African-American sitcoms on its schedule... with The Jeffersons removed from the schedule on January 1, 2020.

227, Gimme a Break, and Benson are on Antenna. Diff’rent Strokes was on Me but is now on Antenna as well.

I wouldn’t even mind seeing some 90s and 00s African American shows on Me like Sister Sister, Moesha, The Parkers, and Everybody Hates Chris. Any of these would be better than that dreadful MASH and Hogan’s Heroes. I wouldn’t think it would be hard for Me to get the rights to those because they are owned by CBS Paramount and that’s where most of the shows on Me are from.

And I hope the Jeffersons will return to Me’s schedule at some point. I can’t get Decades.

Few interesting programming notes for Sunday's in July.
As a tribute, ME will be airing Carl Reiners favorite episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show at 11 and 11:30pm throughout the month .
Starting July 12th, Colombo switches to the 2hr episodes beginning with the original 60's tv pilot movie Prescription: Murder. Collector's Call moves to the 10:00pm slot with new episodes and replaces the Flintstones. For all The Flintstones fans like myself, you can still catch two full hrs every Sunday morning.

That looks like all the schedule changes for now. I will post a schedule update if they decide to do a Christmas in July promotion.

I just checked our TV schedule, and it looks like Collector's Call is gone.
