I can tolerate some country music as long as it doesn't have that twangy sound to it and doesn't mention the words beer, hound dog or trailer park!

I got out of a big county kick. It's when pop music sucks, I go to country. Country is getting in a kind of downfall for me, so I'm just listening to whatever now. I do like the Dixie Chicks though. I can't wait til their new cd comes out. :)

I don't go with the flow. I only listen to country. That's probably the reason why I have so few friends. Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw rule because they are true country and if I'm depressed I always will listen to their music with the exception of a few TV theme songs! Country is my first true musical love.

I LOVE country music. I like the traditional music a bit better, but the new country is pretty cool too.

You name it, I listen to it when it comes to country :D

Well, you just described my whole life in that last line  j/k I don't like country music. Some of it is ok, but I can't take very much of it. A lot of people around here listen to rap or rock, and I like rock music best.

Your wish is my command:

Sweet Home Alabama --- Lynyrd Skynyrd

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the gov' nor
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the guv'nor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lordy
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea Montgomery's got the answer

Okay, I don't get people who say "I like all kinds of music---except country." To me, that's like sayin', "I like all kinds of food---except vegetables." See, there are all kinds of vegetables---for instance, I love peas and green beans, but I hate lettuce and radishes.

Anyway, my point is, there are different styles to country music. There's honky tonk, there's classic country, there's contemporary, there's the cross-over hits---there's just, literally, I think, somethin' for everybody.

Lorrie Morgan is my favorite cause she stands up for true country music, but she also loves to sing oldies, romantic standards, contemporary numbers, pop styles---and she make any song her own---and does.

I've got lots of tracks on lots of albums from various artists that I could play for you, and you would never know it was what you call "country music". My best friend doesn't like any music, but once he heard this song I loved on radio---by a country artist---and said, "That didn't even sound like country music." I was like, "I know, I keep tryin' to tell you it's not all this mama-missin' dog-kickin' tear-cryin' beer-drinkin' hick stuff you like to make it out to be."

*sigh*

I'm sorry, I just really wanted to vent. I'm not tryin' to yell at anyone, I'm just sayin', give some country a chance. I would bet anyone there's at least a few songs out there in all the sub-styles from the '20s to now that you'd like! :) And if ya don't believe me, I'd be more than happy to send you a few. ;)

I really like Emerson Drive (I think that's their name) and Shania Twain, but other than them, I really don't care for it at all.
