That's a difference of 16 minutes although I'm not aware of any differences in the Mill Creek set compared to the Sony set. I have the Mill Creek set, the one with 6 discs.
I like the antics of Raj, Dwayne, and Rerun. To me, in some ways What's Happening is a 1970's version of the Bowery Boys movies from the 1940's and 50's. A group of guys hanging out at a soda fountain/soda shop and getting themselves into predicaments/situations.
In the late 1970's, Welcome Back Kotter, What's Happening, and Three's Company were my favorite sitcoms on ABC. I also watched The Love Boat but I don't really consider it as a sitcom, it's more a comedy/drama with several stories interwoven in each episode.

When it comes to deciding between sets, I am always going to chose the one with more mins first

I'm not 100 percent positive but as far as I know the Mill Creek set has the same transfers of the episodes that the Sony set has. Main difference between the two is the Sony set has 9 discs while the Mill Creek set is more of a budget set with just 6 discs and more episodes crammed on to the discs. I ended up with the Mill Creek set because I found a good deal for it on ebay that I couldn't pass up.
Does the Sony set have a bonus feature that runs about 16 minutes? If it does that might account for the difference in the total run times because I don't think the Mill Creek set has any bonus feature, just the episodes only.

No bonus features at all so wondering if its some additional scenes in certain eps

One thing to keep in mind is the total run times listed on DVD sets isn't always perfectly accurate. It could be possible that the run time on the Sony set is overestimated by about 16 minutes. If I had a copy of the Sony set I would compare it to the Mill Creek set I have and see if the Sony set has a few eps that run a little longer. I haven't read any reports or reviews that say the Mill Creek set has a few edited episodes, so as of right now I just have to figure that both sets are the same.
1960'sTVfan 06-19-2024, 11:25 AM I've been looking over the episodes on Tubi and I discovered something. On Tubi, part 2 of the episode Doobie Or Not Doobie opens with a recap/summary of part 1, this recap runs a little under 4 minutes. But on the DVD set from Mill Creek, the recap/summary is missing. I imagine the recap is also missing on the DVD set from Sony.

Thanks for checking. Well at least it isn't any new footage that was deleted but the recap is still part of the episode and it should have been included on the DVD. And the funny thing is, at the end of part 1 there's a preview for part 2 and they left that in on the DVD. But on part 2 they deleted the recap of part 1. Just strange.
