LOL. This show is funny. It sucks that they only had 12 episodes. (I've seen them all) Britcoms don't make very many episodes for as long as they run, do they?

I have seen all 13 episodes...many times!!! I do love this show and I agree with you, there should have been more. Basil was hysterically funny! :lol:

Yeah,John Cleese was at his best as Basil Fawlty.
One of my fave eps. is the German episode when they get a
bunch of German tourists.

I think it's one of the best sitcoms ever made, I've got the DVD Boxset of it.
They didn't make any more episodes because I don't think they wanted a good show to turn bad.
My favourite episode is the one with the rat loose.

I totally ADORE this show! I have every episode on tape and have seen them over and over. My favorite one is "The Kipper and the Corpse" :lol: but I love them all. The only thing is, in 2 months I'm going to England and I'm kinda afraid the hotels I booked might actually be like this LOL!

Don't worry, they're not like that- I think! LOL
Although Fawlty Towers was based on a real hotel and real Basil Fawlty!

This is a very funny show! My favorite character is Manuel. The harder he tries to be understood the harder he is to understand!:lol:

I love this show. My favorite episode is The Germans.

I think this show is really great and love the idea behind it all Basil is really funny..

This show was HILARIOUS, I have to admit, I have never laughed so hard since, two nights ago when I watched Cheers. Lol I am so arrogant I know, what can I say. It's a gift.

But yeah I found it very funny, and the writing was very well done.

Yes, they all were. The first season it was all the male lines were mostly written by Cleese and all female lines mostly by Booth and at the time the 2 were I think either dating or married.
By the second season they had split up and they both still had to write together, and they combined their ideas.

I have never seen this show BUT i'm going to see a few eps on dvd, i saw them at blockbuster so im going to rent them, John Cleese is the best!!

Thanks for pointing that out I didn't know that. It seems like a lot of British actors also write too, Jennifer Saunders for example.

You obviously do not live in Britain. Some of our comedy series seem to go on forever!!!. The reason Fawlty Towers was such a short series was that John Cleese and his co-writer wife' Connie Booth, had split up. This was also one of the reasons that the second series took 4 years to arrive on the TV screen.

And I think another reason is that they said it may get rubbish if they kept carrying on.

I love Fawlty Towers. 10 times better than monty python ever was...one of the best.
I agree, the Germans is hilarious, I also love the one where the girl comes to stay, Basil hides in her wardrobe, gets muddy handprints on her, etc. Does anyone know the one I am talking about.
Fawlty Towers should have its own message board, I would contribute.

I believe that episode was The Psychiatrist. Enough material fo an entire conference.:lol:

Have you ever noticed that little joke at the beginning of every episode. My favorite episode is when he gives the car a DAMN GOOD THRASHING. Ive been a long time Python fan , so to me its monty python without Palin,Jones, And Giliam. It s great!

Great show. I bought the DVD set for my girlfriend last Christmas (she'd seen it...I hadn't) and we watched the entire thing over the course of two or three days. The show just made me even more secure in my belief that Cleese was the best Python.

What's most amazing about the show is how each episode gets progressively more absurd.

It seems a lot of British series have very short seasons. Personally, I prefer that approach.

I don't think any TV show packed as much in a half hour as Fawlty Towers. They were so well written. John Cleese should have made Sitcoms for rest of his life. I know a lot of work went into these shows, but what the hell did he do with all his time afterwards. This is where his genius was.

Many favorite scenes. The one already mentioned where Basil runs in from offscreen to thrash the car, and the one where O'Rielly says he likes a woman with spirit and she starts hitting him and telling him to smile.
