When this whole "takeout only" thing started, I went to this restaurant I love called "The Old Spaghetti Factory" and got takeout. It only took about 30 minutes from the time I walked in ordered and got my food. There was one employee working in the lobby and about five of us waiting. It was a good experience and the woman was really nice. Even gave me a root beer for while I was waiting.

They'd been closed for a while (due to lack of money) and tonight they reopened so I ordered online and went to pick it up. I stated that I wanted the stuff to be ready about 5:45 to give myself time. So about 5:15 I left my condo and got to the restaurant about 5:30. There were about 7 people in there waiting as well and people kept coming in. As before there was only one guy running orders and I don't know how many people were working in the kitchen but I'm guessing only about one or two.

It took a long, long time to get my order and I think that they lost it or something because the guy kept coming over asking me what I ordered. But when I finally got my food I'd been in there about two hours.

Yes, I know that's a very long time to wait, but what ticked me off was how rude some of the customers were. They were making comments about how long it was taking and one woman even got in the guy's face and yelled at him b/c she had requested that her order be ready by 6:02 and it was 6:04. Yes, really! I had to get up and move to the bar from the lobby b/c I was so ticked off at the way these people were treating the employee.

I wanted to scream at them that they didn't have to order from the restaurant and they could have freaking STAYED AT HOME and eaten there or gone through the drive thru of a restaurant! The funny thing is that this place is crazy busy on Friday and Saturday nights and my husband and I have waited upwards of an hour to get a table so I don't think it's so different than waiting a long time for food. But I hate when people treat service employees so badly. It wasn't the guy's fault that they were short staffed. I heard him say that they had just gotten money from the government to reopen so they could pay their employees. He was telling people that tomorrow they are going to have more staff and things should be better.

I admit I was getting a little annoyed but they finally gave me my food and he said he wasn't goign to charge me. I told him I'd ordered online and he said he was going to credit the whole thing. On one hand I feel bad b/c I know they need the money to stay open, but on the other hand it was nice getting free dinner. I'm going to order from there again soon but it just ticks me off that people think that they can treat people like that. I've never worked in a restaurant but I've worked in plenty of retail places and even when I worked in Transportation, people would treat us really badly. My husband even asked me why I had to take that off of people. Unfortunately, that was the only way to keep my job. Oh the irony of that statement.

OH Nuts!

People can be such a##h#les at times. They should be grateful restaurants are open and there are people doing essential services. Shame on them. You have a lot of patience. After half an hour I would have given up, would have told them politely though. But two minutes late and throwing a tantrum - well, that is really over the top!

OMG !! We used to have " The old Spaghetti factory " restaurant here and it went out of business about 25 or more years ago ! Everyone was so upset when it closed , because it was really reasonably priced and fun, and the food was good, not great but good and they served wine which made it nice! If it is the same Old Spaghetti factory chain ?! I used to go there with my ex Hubby !!;)

Why do people still not know this? You NEVER treat wait staff or cooks in a restaurant poorly, even if the service is poor. Unless you want a "surprise" in your food.

There was an Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Nashville that we used to go to in the 1980's. They served very good food but they were always packed on the weekend and you had to wait to be seated and then it took awhile to get your food. They were not known for being speedy but the food was so good you kind of overlooked it. We never complained but I'm sure some people did. You'll always find rude people when you go out anywhere. Sorry it took so long to get your order. 2 Hours is too long to wait, glad they didn't charge you for it.

In my area we have a few restaurants but we CAN NOT walk into the restaurant and order. We must call for the order and later pick it up at a time they give you. Some smaller restaurant you order agin by phone and someone come out to your car with the food. Fortunately for me I am not avid food taker cutter. I am more nervous about meat packing companies going under for some reason.

When I got home I posted something on their Facebook page and someone from the company responded. They told me to email what I had posted to their email address and they said they would take care of it. I thought that was nice of them. I mean it was an inconvenience having to wait so long but I was angrier at the morons who were in there waiting than the staff.

2 hour wait for something you already paid for? I would have blacked out:lol:
