Aw, I was hoping Kim would win instead of Jason. (never liked him puke::barf:)

This was a fun watch especially since I could just FF to the games. I'm trying to figure out what the hell Kim is wearing....it looks like a cross between a shirt and dress. I know it was the 80's, but that's a hideous and unflattering outfit on a young girl! I hope whoever designed that never worked in fashion again!

I was definitely rooting for Kim over Jason. (I preferred Valerie Harper over Jason Bateman, and he made some comments about her a few years ago that I didn't appreciate).

It's a shame Kim didn't win because she had no problem crawling all over the floor, and really seemed to be into the game.

Hahahahaha! I, too, was wondering WTH Kim was wearing. Was it a dress? Was it a jacket? I guess we'll never know!

I see there are more snippets of Kim's episodes on YouTube...

He always struck me as an arrogant and smug person, not too far from the creep he played as a kid on Silver Spoons. After Valerie left that sitcom, I never watched again.

She was so much fun to watch playing this. What I love about Kim is she's like Tootie and seems to share the same enthusiasm for things. She was definitely enjoying herself playing the game. :)

What I do know is that was definitely something Dorothy Zbornak would have hanging in her closet.

I just watched a top 10 Kim moments on Body Language from the sidebar of this video that was fun to see. I think Mindy did this game show too. I remember seeing her play it on Buzzr.

What did Jason say about Valerie?

I don't have the quote handy, but in the 2010s, he said something to the effect that he was siding with the Lorimar producers, and that she was 'out there' (my interpretation of what he said, not exact quote).

And Lorimar producers, of course, had spread the word that Valerie was "jealous" (https://nostalgiacentral.com/television/tv-by-decade/tv-shows-1980s/hogan-family-thevalerie/) of Jason Bateman's growing popularity. (I think she just didn't want the show turning into another Family Matters, with one character getting the majority of the stories).

I didn't get that impression until I heard him talk about Valerie. Then I felt he really was smug.

That’s sad to hear, I guess that’s why he didn’t acknowledge her passing away? :(

I didn't know he hadn't acknowledged her passing. That sucks.

I do know he said a few kind words during her cancer diagnosis, but I would expect that from anyone. Heck, even Alyssa Milano reached out to Shannen Doherty when Shannen was first diagnosed with cancer. She even reached out again a few months back when it was announced that Shannen has Stage Four cancer now, and will likely not recover.

Here are a couple of articles where Batement praises Valerie. In one, he refers to Valerie as his “second mom” (this was right after she was fired). And another more recent one where he refers to her as a special person whom he learned a lot from.

https://people.com/archive/suing-the-bosses-who-bounced-her-a-bitter-valerie-harper-fights-to-save-her-reputation-vol-28-no-16/

https://www.accessonline.com/articles/jason-bateman-on-tv-mom-valerie-harper-shell-come-through-great-163851

I think, though, that he preferred to work with Sandy Duncan, and he still keeps in touch with her and considers her a mentor.

I preferred the show with Valerie, BTW. But I do think she was unhappy on the set (she didn’t like the direction where Miller/Boyett wanted to take the show) and it’s no fun to work with unhappy people.

I noticed that Julia (the girl paired with Jason Bateman) was wearing a similar thing, but of a different color. It looks like they came to the show wearing pajamas. Julia does look a lot like Mayim Bialik.

Some of those answers were dated even then. Someone of Kim's partner's age probably would not know who Mr. McGoo is.

The kid said he did know Mr. Magoo, although I was surprised to hear that. But then I looked it up, and new Mr. Magoo episodes were airing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_New,_Mr._Magoo%3F) in the late 1970s, so it wasn't all that dated back in 1985. If the kid was 12, he would have seen Magoo on CBS at age 4.

Yeah, but unhappy is different than unstable, which is the rumor that the producers were circulating about her. As you know, she did sue them in court for damaging her reputation, and won. I do agree with you that she was unhappy, but I think I would be, too, if it was my show, with my name on it, and they started doing what Miller/Boyett often did: focusing on the character they considered the break-out star.

Agreed, that was a slap in the face. That link to Jason talking about Valerie after her diagnosis was nice though, I think I remember seeing that.

Yep, but what I was trying to point out is that Jason Bateman said some kind things about a colleague whom I suspect he particularly didn’t like working with over 30 years ago (and who likely resented him). I don’t think he deserves to be be criticized for not saying more. Whatever happened between Miller/Boyett and Valerie is a separate issue.

I read Valerie's book recently and while she doesn't go in too much detail about Jason, she did point out that it was she who called him first about the news of her firing and his first reaction to her was "What can I do to help?". So according to Valerie, he was on her side and would've went to bat for her had she asked him.

She thanked him for that but told him she didn't want him involved and that was that. Who knows if there's more to that story, or if she just didn't want to badmouth him her book?

In any case, I still never liked Jason and think he's a pretentious douche.

Ever since playing that Kim Fields Body Language video on You Tube, i'm now seeing all these FOL videos in my side bar, particularly a whole bunch by some creepy weirdo who made all these Blair & Jo videos set to popular romantic love songs. It's quite disturbing to watch, and to think someone put all that effort into making them.

You have clips of Blair & Jo set to "She's Like the Wind", "I Can't Fight This Feeling", and most disturbing...."You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"...LOL WTF is wrong with some people?!

Those are really funny. I had no idea this was such a big thing with some fans. On one hand it's true that you can't deny there's a blatant sexual tension between those two characters at times. I don't know if it was purposely written that way or just a coincidence, but it is there.

After watching the whole series through it's weird to watch videos like that because you know they're both straight and they're almost like sisters by the end, so it's icky lol. It's amazing that people put so much effort into this. I guess it's to the show's credit though, that it apparently had such a profound effect on young lesbians.

Has Lisa & Nancy M ever acknowledged this whole segment of viewers clamoring for their characters to get together?! I'd be interested to know what they think about it all.

And those videos love songs are nothing compared to all the romantic stories they've got on the FANFICTION site (not that i have read any lol!):lol::lol:

Which reminds me: i watched 'THE GRAND OPENING on my smartphone tonight, and i must say that must have been the worse episode i have ever seen on FOL!!!!

First of all, it was very disturbing for me to see our beloved MRS G already turned into a POD: there was no warmth at all toward her girls (even when TOOTIE came to hug her after she was released form the police), she simply stood there staring into space....
And the worst part was, when the girls ask her to wear one of new trendy outfit for the new store, MRS G simply mumbles "Oh i don't know... this just isn't me and i was hoping my clothes are at least contemporary...maybe i should hide in the back?"
And then BLAIR replies "Oh no!"
And then says to TOOTIE in a low voice "Just hide her in the back."
I was like: where is our usually authoritative MRS G? (locked in the garage or what?)
And the way BLAIR says "Just hide her in the back": i found very disrespectful toward the one person who raised her and took care of her (it's like all of a sudden the girls have no mother respect for MRS G????)

Even JO was acting kind of dumb, getting excited over a product so much, that when GEORGE came along and asked her to show him what she was rambling about, i was like BRAVO GEORGE!;)

TOOTIE was the only adorable one in this episode: in fact, i am beginning to like her a lot more now that she has stopped 'whining' (like she used to during season 2 to 4):D:

NATALIE was funny too, the way she brought that WEIRDO of a guy and kept saying "i think he's going to start performing any minute now"

Please come back REAL MRS G!!! We all miss you!!!:crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

If I remember correctly none of the girls even went with Mrs. G to the police when they took her for selling the knockoff clothes. (which wasn't even her fault but BLAIRS! So she let Mrs. G take the rap for it! Bad Blair lol)

I'm confused by which one said "Just hide her in the back"...First you said Tootie then Blair. I forgot which one said it. Or was it both of them?

You can definitely tell Mrs. G was already gone by this point and it was now the girl's show. And how they just shoved her into a corner with a plate of cookies and coffee to sell was humiliating.

I'm not done with the series yet, but my favorites are definitely seasons 2, 3, 4 and 5. :)

I think even the girls were exchanged by PODS (probably locked somewhere in the garage too)

'Real' BLAIR would have never let MRS G take the blame for her: she would have gone with her to the police with JO right behind her.
Instead, we get the girls staring at the police officer without reaction, and simply stare into space! (like obedient 'STEPFORD WIFES' devoid of emotions):mad::mad:

And yes, it is QUITE obvious that CHARLOTTE RAE wanted desperately out of the show cos her acting left much to be desired.... (selling cookies in a corner of the shop!):eek::eek:

My favourite seasons as you know, are: the pilot until season 6.

PS: it was BLAIR who says, "Let's hide her in the back" (naughty BLAIR from the pilot is BACK!!!):D:D:D

The one thing i liked was the music: they played 'Cherished' from KOOL & THE GANG!
