I found a photo from the episode Molly's Holiday filmed late 1979. In the episode Lee Crawford plays the new girlfriend of Molly's father. In this photo another actress is shown. What's up with that ? Did they replace her last minute or was she a stand in for Lee ?

That is a shot from the show. She played Angela. Molly's father's new girlfriend (aka Frizzle Head).

No, Hoagie78 is right! That's NOT Angela! It looks nothing like her---it looks more like Marisa Berenson! lol At least, the Angela from the final show. Wow, this is VERY interesting! FANTASTIC find Hoagie!!

But another photo that needs re-sizing for the board...here we go:

Woah, HUGE find, Hoagie!

Because we know that's a different lady. This has all sorts of implications.

You can check the DVD or the show on Daily Motion and see who gets credit as being Frizzle Head.

A dark-haired Marisa Berenson look-alike in what looks kind of like a Native American-flavored fur coat. I am still stunned.

Lee Crawford is the blonde actress who played Frizzle Head in the episode. Crawford was an original cast member of the daytime soap The Young & The Restless in 1973. Crawford returned to Y&R in 1981-82 and played opposite David Hasselhoff.

This dark haired actress in the photo is a mystery. I wondered if this is just a rehearsal photo, or if it was actually filmed with this dark haired actress and then filmed again with Lee Crawford in the role ?

Wouldn't it be something if they had actually filmed this episode with this actress and it was unearthed to view ?

Well, they DID say a season 1 episode had to be re-shot...

Maybe this one?????

That's what I was thinking as well.

Maybe the mystery has been solved of the re-filmed episode. The actress may have not worked out or due to audio/video issues they had to shoot it again and the actress was not available for taping and Lee Crawford was brought in.

Maybe so!

But IF that's the case, it just raises other questions:

Why was the audience so quiet on LMLD?
When was Molly's Holiday re-taped?
Did any of the original footage survive in the final broadcast?
Is the 12/20/1979 tape date the original shooting date, or the replacement?
Is this why Molly's mother appears in the original script, but gets cut out on the final edit of the episode?
Is this why MH appears so late in the season? Taped in December, but aired in June?

Molly appears to be wearing a different shirt under her overalls than what she wore in the episode we saw.

There was a gap between the first 4 and when production resumed in December 79. I wonder if Molly's Holiday was originally taped late November then re-taped in December or maybe they redid the entire episode in 1980.

I noticed they added that little theme jingle to the later season episodes where they would show outside the school before showing inside the dorm. It came across a little cheesy. I'm glad they dropped that. The first 4 had the same feel as DS episodes and season 2 returned to that feel.

Yeah, that exterior shot lead-in music. I think it's cute. :)

Yeah, I find the early interstitial music cute; it made the show seem very innocent. As you say, it was only used for the "back nine", and then they went back to no interstitials for a long time. But the final few seasons use some interstitials again. I was shocked, for example, to hear the same interstitial music used on both a later-season FOL and Silver Spoons. It felt like two universes had collided!

I agree. I think it's "cute" and "innocent" for that early season when there are young girls. Kind of "la da da da da da da daaaaa :)"

I find it really charming for season 1, but I'm glad it wasn't there after that.

Yes. I can't imagine them using it when the girls are, like, losing their virginity and getting married.
